Okay, with the car in Sport mode, I have made several hard runs and NO transmission light has come on so far. I will continue this and see what happens. What does the Sport mode do exactly?

TIA,
Jim

Starting at a much lower speed (about 10mph) I jumped on it in sport mode to redline and got the Transmission light. Turned off/cleared it. Tried it again and the transmission light came back on. So the Sport mode does not have an effect.

Since Dinan offers an E46 auto. transmission software upgrade would the local Dinan dealer be able to fix my transmission software?

I was thinking more along the lines of their having access to and knowledge
of the transmission software so that they would have the capability to diagnose/correct my problem. If no one on the forum has the answer to this then my next step is to contact my local Dinan dealer.

Finally found the solution. I went back into BIP to reconnect the traction module and clear out all the errors. Jason measured the height of my front and rear tires and there is almost a 1 inch difference with the rear 265/35's being the taller tires. He recommended that since he had some mounted 255/35 tires sitting there, let's try to see what difference it would make with tires all the same height. I am game for anything like this. Hooray!!! After 10 hard runs up to the red line, not once did the transmission light come on!! I am so relieved!! You guys in the earlier posts were right! I just did not go far enough in getting the tire heights the same. I have already scheduled two rear 255/35's for mounting this week.

Anybody interested in two Michelin 265/35x18's with about 2K miles on them?

Jim
Now on to the rest of the to do list.

Glad you got it all figured out. How does it pull? And shift?

It pulls very hard and shifts very smooth under hard acceleration.

The next two items are a bigger MAF because I am getting the 5% too high
a flow error and a manual thermostat for the electric fan because Jason has eliminated all other possibilities as to why it is running all the time. Jason suspects that when the fan controller burned up it sent a spike into the ECU burning up that circuit, thus the error is "no signal from the fan controller". It is cheaper to install a manual thermostat than to replace the ECU (mucho dinero!).
The bigger MAF along with a new fuel map will add more power.

No kidding!

I was thinking we may have a major stumbling block to overcome with our builds!

This is great news.

Based on my running 255/35 fronts and 275/35 rears for all these years
with NO error lights whatsoever I just could NOT believe that a height difference would cause this error light - Jason suspects that the additional power just sent the computer into a fit. This has been a very frustrating lesson so heed it well.
Now I need a wider rear tire that is the same height as the 255/35 or 24".

Spoke too soon. I made a couple of hard runs Saturday and trans light came on after the first one so I stopped and cleared it. Made a second hard run where I punched it, the car downshifted and THREE lights came on!! Transmission, TC and ABS. This time they would not clear when I shut it off so I limped home.
I started it this am and I had two lights - TC & ABS. Ran some errands and finally shut it off. Came back later and started it - no lights. So I will go back into BIP to have them check it out. I am mystified.

Several years ago, BEFORE I installed the AA SC I installed an external
transmission oil cooler in preparation for the AA SC. What light will come on if
the transmission temperature is too high?

Yes and all lights will come on. Don't you have a trans temp gauge.
