Senior project...

For my senior project i really wanna design and autoX course, then with a couple of my friends with respectable cars, go have an autoX day, video tape it, edit, make my presentation. What do i need, how do i book a big enough parking lot etc. This is just an idea i thought of today and wanted to know your tips for a succesful correct autoX.

TIA

big concern is any permits or safety guidelines etc.

You will need the parking lot owner's permission. That is tricky, however, because of insurance and liability reasons. If you know the guy personally, this might help. Otherwise, there's no reason for him to allow a bunch of kids to screw around with their cars. Why don't you find a local autocross group, inform the Solo2 chairman what you're trying to do, and ask if you can help him design the course. This way, the legality is taken care of, you get plenty of good footage and with his help, you'll be able to learn what makes a good course design.
