Help with wiring a door bell?

Conundrum of facts:

Door bell has 4 wires: red, black, yellow, green.
Door chime has 4 wires: red, black, yellow, green
Alarm siren/speaker for alarm system next to doorbell: red, black, yellow, green

Question: old doorbell was wired with just black and red (no transformer as far as I can tell), but it never worked either.

When I tried to install the doorbell just using the black and red directly to the door chime and the door bell the chime would stay on constantly. Only when I would depress the doorbell button would it shut off (working in the opposite manner you could say).

Tried it without the transformer and nothing would work. Keep in mind the whole time I never did anything with the yellow and green wires and the siren is ripped out of the wall (alarm is installed but not at the same time).

Any suggestions on what to do? Wondering if I should call an electrician to install it or an alarm company because I'm wondering if the two are integrated to each other.

Also, if it is an alarm integration problem, any suggestions on who to call? Location is Fayetteville, NC.
