Clutch please help

I own a 03 E46 m3. 87k miles and my clutch recently started shaking and it kind of wants to stall. I feel like its only getting worse. I have trouble shifting it to 1st and 2nd gear. A mechanic told me its some "ring" that's worn out and needs to be replaced. He said 500$ part and 500$ labor. Is this reasonable?

A Sachs OEM clutch kit lists for $550...

If I were you, I would just go ahead and replace the whole clutch kit.

Here is the part number.
