Borla installed. Toughts.

I installed a Borla axleback last night and for all its worth wanted to share my experience as there was quite a few threads of people asking about fitment issues and how one side could stick out further then the other etc. Well the exhaust was really simple to install and fits perfectly without any dificult adjustments. The way to work it is : start with the passenger side muffler as it connects to section 2 with the stock exhaust clamp and is not adjustable. Then after installing the driver side muffler , tighten the hangers. The way to adjust the driver side muffler is to turn the conecting pipe that goes into the section 2 until the tip is even with the passenger side (have someone hold it in that position and then tighten the hell out of the conecting bracket. Thats it, so I dont know if I got lucky ot maybe the fitment issues others are experiencing have to do with worn exhaust hangers. As far as the sound, well its really freaking quiet and I dont know if Im really happy with it. It sounds good when you accelerate from a stop going through gears within about 4k. But in higher rpms the exhaust fades and you could not hear it at all. I guess thats good for highway driving, but I wish it was louder, way louder. (look for it in classifieds as soon as I find a good deal on a replacement). Zero drone, and some rasp over 4k right before it quiets down. I will upload pics as soon as I take some.

I have the same exhaust. Its not a quiet exhaust for sure. I have a ar20/ar25 in section one so there is no rasp and I really love the sound now.

Without a rasp x in section one, I remmeber it sounding like a p51 mustang at WOT, but overall a medium tone exhuast. before you get rid of it try adding a ar25, unless you like the rasp.

I traded my new gruppe m knock off for a used borla and maybe it's becasue Im old now..couldnt imagine going back to a louder set.

Yeah, I figured I would stay kind of conservative on the exhaust for the BMW. All the reviews said its a mild sounding exhaust, so I figured it would suit me well. I had no idea it would be this quiet though. Just kind of wondering if the exhausts people say are loud would really seem that loud to me. And the bit of rasp doesnt bother me, I kind of like it. I am worried that if I add a resonator it will quiet it down even more. I was going to try an agency power (or megan knock off for that matter) with 2 ar20s but was worried it would be too loud. Now I think I would like that better. However the oval tips on my borla look beyond awesome IMO.
