Where did you get the flash from? Does the $95 cover the flash or is that what people are paying for install?

Some people have the software for the install and some Indy shops can do them as well.

But to get the flash to install, is that $95 or where are people getting it from? ESS?

$95 for doing nothing that doesn't help the car?

Man, I should make a post in my regional forum to milk money out of people.

So you *want* people to be swindled out of $95?

Where is *your* positive contribution to this thread. This thread should be closed.

I read a while back that it makes the car start in A3. Is this true?

If they can't find someone to do it for cheaper 95 isn't a whole lot. My positive contribution would be answering his question as to how much the flash was. Any other common sense questions you'd like to ask?

The cost can vary widely and is dependant on what the person performing the task considers a fair trade for their services.

Cost Range: FREE - $165

We're providing the OP with the information to make the decision.

Just make sure that whomever performs the flash uses a battery charger.

I either put it back into "SPORT" mode either by moving the shifter twice or the paddles. You'll get used to it.

If the default auto thing bothers you, you can always do a Euro SMG flash instead of CSL. Still raises launch control (to 3900RPM instead of 4500 like the CSL) and slightly alters shift behavior. Still better than the US software either way IMO

so i know the smg flash DIY talks about hooking up a power source to maintain 13-14v at 10A to the car during the falsh process.
My question is. can this power source be a battery charger, hooked up in to the front of the car to the red cable under the hood for positive and boddy for ground? ill set the charge to manual 10A mode so it stays on. If this is not good enought, whats a good power source ?

Secondly, if i do want to flash back to stock smg software, which data file is that?

thanks.

Alright then.... SO i ended up doing the flash on my 03 M3...
Havent really noticed any difference in faster shifts or in rev matching..

I was under the impression that throttle blips would work even off throttle but that doesnt seem to be the case.

Launch control RPM does seem pretty high now, around 4500...although i didnt perform the actualy launch...i can only imagine the abuse the clutch will take on such a high rev launch.

Car does start in A3 by default, to me thats not really a problem...sometimes early in the day when i go to work, i rather have the car start in auto mode

anything else that i should know about this flash?
