I did a little bit more research, and it may be easier to use an app like Titanium Backup, which claims to basically save state, including apps, settings and all. Promising, and the basic free version has the price that's right, but has anyone used it successfully?

If yours is the Android version, there are hundreds of free backup and restore apps in the Play store.

Anyone else had any problems with Touch Screen Calibration upon flashing?

I've reflashed 1502 a couple of times, and when it boots up, it keeps stalling at the calibration screen. When touch the screen, nothing happens. It works fine on the radio side, so it's not a hardware issue.

I emailed the dev about this, but haven't heard back.

the D99 (and earlier) and D99+ units have different touchscreen drivers, its mentioned in the info you got from M3evo and both are included, its up to you to set up the right one.

I suspected it was something like that, but it's not mentioned in the documentation I got (just reviewed it again). How do I know which driver is which?

Edit: Nevermind, just found it. RTFM

Any updates to the 1502 and 160 beta software yet? 1502 is good for me for a few weeks, but then I get the multi app force close and have to reinstall. I like the 160 beta as it is faster and more streamlined, but for some reason it screws up the bluetooth streaming of music on the Dynavin side for me. 1502 does fine in that regard.

I know updates are going to be on avinusa.com, but I haven't seen much activity, so I'm checking in.

I've been emailing him. Unfortunately the release date for AVIN just keeps getting pushed back...

So I've had my d99 for about a year, bought this rom, rooted with z4, tried every single sd card under the sun, and have never been able to flash this rom.

I have fairly extensive android experience, been rooting and flashing custom roms for almost five years, I've been an active member over at xda for as long.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but without a bootloader and no recovery to flash a rom from I am completely lost. To the point where I gave up on flashing this rom for nearly a year.

Here's what I've done:
1.Rooted with z4root
2.Installed superuser
3.Formatted a 2gb sd card to fat16 with 64kb clusters.
4.Copied the required files over to the root of the sd card.
5.Inserted sd card while the unit was off.
6.Powered unit up and switched over to the nav side of the dynavin.

At this point I expected to see the system load the new rom files, but it simply goes to the black screen with the dynavin logo with the silver that kinda slides across the font, and then it boots android as usual.

Any help on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

one thing you didnt do is get the formatting tool from your dealer to properly format the card to make the unit boot from the card.

Also, when in android, does it recognize the card (in the status bar) because it could be a problem with the card slot itself.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm a little confused as to what you mean by the "formatting tool from my dealer"
I used easeus formatting tool to format the card. I kinda figured from the way things had been going that the unit wasn't looking for the sd card to boot from, again without a bootloader or recovery I'm kind of lost. Is there some way to give the unit a boot sequence, like you would do with a pc?
And yes, my sd slot works. I use copilot with my map stored on an sd. And each time I reboot is goes through the "preparing sd card" in the staus bar and adds the obligatory android folders to the sd card.

So what is my next step?

im guessing im not your dealer, but email me and ill email you the formatting tool. For what ever reason this forum has got the idea that there is some magic formula to formatting the card(probably because a few people got it to work other ways), not really, dynavin uses a specific formatting program to set the sd card up so that it can boot, I have it, the other dealers have it, all you have to do is ask your dealer to email you the formatting tool.

So this ROM now costs $30? Not quite "a beer" like it was at the beginning of the thread

For those of you who have it... worth it? I've got no problem paying for quality but would expect a fairly polished and sorted product at that price point...

Maybe there aren't as many problems or people have learned to accept the existing ones

Personally I'm waiting on AVIN. But it's a wait I fear may never end.

Tommy?
