40mm pics?

So Canon has the 40mm pancake lens on sale for $140 right now. Thinking about picking it up just for kicks. I already have the 50/1.8. I didn't want another prime lens especially since I only have the 50mm and the stock lens, but it might be fun. Thinking about ordering it tonight, or maybe even upgrading my T3 to the T4i ($600 right now, hopefully I could get $300 for my T3).

Anyways. Anybody have pics with the 40?

My Ride: A car.
I looked at it for a second but decided it doesn't really make sense to get it unless you have the T4i body to use the STM AF abilities while shooting video.
I have the 50mm 1.2 already.

I think you should put the money saved and sell the kit lens towards a better all-around lens. 24-70L is excellent and there's a newer version too.

I had the 40mm. I think if you are just getting it for "kicks" you'd be better off spending your money on different glass or a body. There is also a firmware glitch with that lens. Sometimes the autofocus stops working and the lens 'sticks'- you have to detach/reattach the lens to get it to start working. Also, if you aren't using it for the STM feature, I think the newness and gimmick of the 40 will wear off pretty fast. I'd try to wrangle up $300 for a longer zoom like the 70-300 IS or $500 and get a used 5D on POTN. That is probably the biggest bargain in DSLR history.

The 40mm pancake is ideal for travel, mounted on something like a 5D classic.
