after market stereo

I recently purchased a double din stereo the installation prcess was going fine until i tested the radio stations and noticed i wasnt picking up any stations. I scanned for stations and still nothing works. I then realized that this might have to do with this blue wire that come out from thecside of the main attenna cord that i plugged into the new stereo unit. This wire is marked ANT but i have no idea where to hook it. I heard some things like if my bmw has a power attenna i have to hook this up for better reception but i have no idea where. Does anyone know anything about this? Here is a picture. I have a 2000 bmw 323is
