I'm pretty sure I learned this in 7th grade. Tops

House represents the people's voice at a granular level
And is more frequently changed to ensure that, along with proper ratio of respresenatives to population

Senate represents a more tenured "voice" at a state level interest

There are reasons for the way it is setup.

Its supposed to make things move SLOW and make it HARD to change things
It's also is supposed to ensure a balance of the people's will but with a state level check and balance

The Senate is a Farce

I, for one, see no issue with every law being decided by what the representatives from New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco think is best for us. F the rest of the country. The minority voice deserves only what the majority will generously grant to them.

Hell, why even bother with a legislative branch at all? Just give the president popular polls and let him write laws based on that. Make it easy and use online polls to gather opinion.

Won't need the Supreme Court now, either, since laws will be based on popular opinion, not legislative interpretation.

Sadly, some people actually would agree with that statement.

mandatory, gender neutral bathrooms for transsexuals in every building paid for by taxpayers! Government tax exemptions for marrying your sister or inanimate object like a car, bonus award payouts for staying on welfare and college scholarships for skin color or being anatomically INcorrect

I agree!!!! It would speed "progress" along so much faster. I mean, just think, our cry baby b!tch of a president wouldn't have to waste time using executive orders to bypass the system and ignore the will of the people every time he doesnt get his elitist ways!

A Bentley in every driveway! Or, at least, a Chrysler 300C with a Bentley badge.

If you want to make it hard to pass legislation, up the requirement from a simple majority to a super majority. Say 60-70% of the votes. Having ridiculously disproportionate representation from a few small states doesn't necessarily make it any harder to pass legislation. It just enables small states to extract tribute. I'm all for states' rights but only for matters at the state level. When you get to the national level, it makes no sense for sparsely populated states like Wyoming to have equal representation to California or Texas on matters that affect everybody in the country.

We already have a liberal democracy. Removing the Senate doesn't change that. Minority/individual rights are protected in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and if need be, those rights can be further defined and expanded if you think eliminating the Senate would somehow make it easier for one group of people to expropriate property from another.

As simple as it sounds...this.

SF? I don't think so. Those Bay Area people are strange. NYC, LA and Topeka.
