Bro, you attempted a DIY many would never go near and you just missed... Don't be too hard on yourself.

Remember that you are likely by far and away your worst critic (I only say likely because if some of the jdm fanatics on here lol, although some are noticeably less domineering these days).. Your eye will go to the spot immediately and it will kill you but to 90% of people who are not car nuts they will never notice and even a lot of people who do get into will have to look twice.

I have mutilated just about every inch of my car in the last 1.5 years. I've broken stuff, painted it, drilled it wrong, been forced to Frankenstein things and generally made it a less bulletproof vehicle in almost every way...

But that's part of the fun. Yes I'll definitely like to have a pristine very stick super together rattle free car someday..

But dude you're doing your own body work! Even among car nuts, do you know how few would even try that job?? You're nuts! (In a good way)

And psss.. Get so mad at self, drag self over the coals so much, be so depressed and dejected... That there is no way your wife will give you shite when you go get that fresh custom tip to tail custom paint job!

Yankees pinstripes? Maybe reversed out, with tiny white pinstripes over dark metallic navy blue?

Body shops will always 'blend' when new paint is being applied so you can't see where the old and new paint meet. I would never have the balls to attempt bodywork. Unfortunately at this point I think its time to find a reputable body shop with good yelp reviews. They will make it look good as new. Make sure whoever you take it to does a good job to avoid orange peel.

Awesome! I have a few dents and rust spots I need to fix in the same spot. Might ask for your services to paint it after I fix them.

It really doesn't look bad to be honest. For further reference just spray the area you fixed and blend the clear. You'll never see much of a difference if you don't spray the whole panel.

Looks great!

And I've been stressing over a small spot for days, and getting it right with touch up.

Steering guibo. Makes a noticeable difference!

While I was in there... Cleaned up the reinforcement plate.

My Ride: 2005 M3 Coupe
Finally got my car back together:

New front subframe (because I damaged the old one)
ZHP Steering Rack + new M3 tie rods
New Steering Guibo
New Lemforder Control Arms and Bushings
New Suspension Bushings F&R
New Coolant Hoses
New Reinforcement Plate
New Splash Shield
CDV Delete (I thought it was already done, but apparently not).

I didn't get a chance to get to my exhaust. There definitely is a leak somewhere... I think I'll just take all of my new gaskets to an exhaust shop and have them install it.

But besides that, the car drives great. The ZHP steering rack responds noticeably quicker, and whatever slop was in the suspension is gone. The car just feels awesome. I do still need to get it aligned, but at least for now it doesn't seem to be off by a terrible amount.

New Expansion tank, cap and fresh coolant flush. Noticed a small intermittent leak possibly from the tank. So got new behr tank and cap.
Hoping it will fix the leak.

For the record, full cooling system overhaul was done last year. Amazed that genuine expansion tank could leak in a year.

They owe me new front/rear bumpers, hood, pass side wheel molding, new headlight lenses... Possibly more once a shop looks at it. So if someone could ballpark new bmw parts & paint, I'd appreciate it.
