Since BMW brought out the M3 in colours like PY. Either way, I stopped reading the advert after I saw the price

around about the same time that the idea of importing a car from oversea is a bad idea as reselling a car that is a a private import or unpopular colour combo is very difficult and you more often than not will loose more money than necessary.

lol, i looked at doing the same thing. from the uk, these cars are 10,000 pounds.. rhd, with minor compliance work required.

however,
these cars aren't eligible under any australian laws to get import approval at the docks. reason is that this car was sold here in a large enough volume. therefore the only way you can get your hands on one in aus is to buy one from the classifieds.

lol, back on topic.

awesome and rare colour combo for a manual (was SMG at the start, i know), but is pricey. you could buy a cheaper genuine manual, and respray in any colour you want.
just think about what you'd do with the money saved by spending 35-40k instead.
cheers

Thanks guys for the inputs. it really means a lot. the main reason for upgrading after being on the Philip Island track this Easter. i wanted more acceleration and there were some nice E46 M3's with upgrades and good they were quick. however, still deciding between E39 M5 or E46 M3. i have a lot of experience with the E39. but would love a an additional smaller car.

Mate, drive both. They are fantastic cars in their own right.
I get behind the wheel of an E39 M5 and I absolutely love it! Big car, but handles so well, effortless to drive with the V8 and sounds amazing with an aftermarket pipe.
The E46 M3 is the younger brother - not as much legs up top end, but very quick through the twisties.

Both cars are well balanced, but like I said, go and drive them both.
And buy the best one you can, not the cheapest one.

Well said Raj, well said. Both cars are great in every respect it's just a matter of which one suits your lifestyle and which can you see yourself driving the most.

For me, E39 M5 hands down!

They have dropped the price of the M3 you were looking at to 38800 now so obviously not much interest at the higher price.
