Question regarding Wheels/Tires

"OH NOT ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT WHEELS AND TIRES!"

But really though, I drive a 2003 330xi, and under some awful circumstances blew a tire. I came across some Beyern Spartan wheels, I am unsure right now if the width on them is 18x8.5 or 18x9.5.

My question is are either sizes of these wheels compatible with my 330xi? I was told by a friend that I can not use 18x9.5's, is this true? Can is there a way I can modify things so they will work? I would really like to use these wheels as I am getting them for a steal.

Thanks in advance.

Forgive me for sounding dumb, but how exactly do I find this out?

EDIT: If it matters, the tires on these wheels are 225 45 r 18 Goodyear Eagles

It should say ET something. a good offset for an 8.5 inch wheel is ET 35-40.
I dont think 9.5 would fit in the front. Id pass if the wheels are 9.5 wide or the wrong offset.

On the Beyern website it appears the only offset for these wheels is 5/120. And is there anywhere I can find out confidently that these will or will not fit?

Ask the seller for the width and offset and we can tell you if it fits.

Is there any way of finding the width and offset by looking on the wheel with the tire on it? He doesn't know exactly.

I really appreciate all this.

EDIT: I was told hub centric rings might ensure they fit properly?

Beyern's are a perfect fit to BMW wheel hubs, even the factory hub cap moves over. You won't need hub centric rings (that shim the center diameter) at all. The offset is a concern for clearing the calipers. Maybe a test fit at the sellers location will cinch this?

Yeah, I will definitely test fit at the sellers, however his wheels are on an e39, which has different bolt sizes, and this concerns me.

EDIT: I am pretty sure these wheels are 18x8.5 because 18x9.5 wont fit on the front of an e39. So the wheels are pretty much decidedly 18x8.5 and an offset of 5/120

e39 wheels don't fit the e46. the centerbore is different and the et is too agressive, they will stick out too much.
keep looking...

Darn, how much would they stick out? I guess I'll have to pass up that deal.
