Re: * What did you do to/for your E46 today? *

Been looking for source of P0171 and P1074 codes that came up since dou ng Vanos seals yesterday . I cleaned the MAF, checked SAP vacuum hoses, checked lower intake boot, doesn't make sense. The car is running awesome. I cleared the light, so now ill just wait and see. BTW , I painted my headlight trim black also...

Fixed the beast..

I was driving down a nice twisty road with some friends the other day, when I head a really bad rattle.. Assuming it was my RSM's or something I pulled over and tested the rear suspension.
It turns out, that the lower retaining bolt for the the rear drivers side caliper had fallen out, no where to be seen! The rattle, was the caliper bouncing on and off of the rotor..
The only bolt available that fit was from my friends exhaust, I hope Mango doesn't get angry that I used a nissan bolt for a while!

Limped her home, and half way there I noticed a new noise, the upper bolt had dissapeared and the rotor was shifting upwards and catching on the dust guard, pushing it against the rotor.
So today I put in two new high tensile bolts, torqued to spec according to the Bentley and the caliper isn't going anywhere

Nice! I've got two of them. I got them for a steal...open box returns on clearance haha My only complaint is the front mount leaves a gap between it and the cross bar that causes whistling.
