only one place in my entire city sold it, a rock climbing / camping chain store. They wouldn't sell me the $5 bottle of liquid chalk because it was a "membership only" store. After complaining for awhile, I had to pay $5 for a lifetime membership... what a sneaky business model

Review on the liquid chalk?

It's legit, my hands are covered in chalk and its way less messy than regular.

That being said my workout has sucked, but that's not due to grip issues. Only got 315x2 then 315x1

Got 285lbs up today. I didn't do my usual 4x8 assisted wide pullups first. Just warmed up with 8x135, 5x205, 3x255, and then jumped up to 1x285. Tapered down with 3x255, 6x205, and 2 sets of 8x135.

Funny story: after 5x205 while warming up, I flexed my glutes apparently for no good reason. I thought it would help with warm up. Didn't realize I overdid it, so ended up having to sit down for an extra minute or two. Talk about a pain in the ass lol!

Cannot believe I took 8 months off from DL. My abs even hurt after getting back into it.

Does anyone use the elevated platform for DL?

I don't personally use it for DL's, but I use one for Power Cleans/Cleans.

Thanks Solly, feels great! No back pain anymore like I used to have when I first started dl'ing. I think I'm getting my form right

if you aren't experiencing back pain, and your numbers are going up every week... form is tight!

Much truth to this statement IMHO. I'm about to transition to heavy singles now. I'll probably do 10-15 singles at 405 lbs. for the next few workouts in an attempt to increase my 1RM.

How long do you generally rest in between single sets? I'm thinking about trying this to increase my 1RM, but idk what weight to try yet. Max is still 415, would like 335ish be a good place to start?

I've never performed heavy singles, so I don't have any reference data to draw from. I'd wager that it'll likely be multiple minutes between singles though. 405 lbs. is about 85% of my 1RM. I won't go any higher than 85% for heavy singles.

P.S. 335 lbs. for your heavy singles is a good place to start since it's about 80% of your 1RM.

Gotcha, ok. I've been doing sets of 3 at 315 lately.

followup on liquid chalk...

I notice I need more than the recommended "dose" of a nickel sized drop in the palm... I'm using more like a toonie sized (bit bigger than an american quarter).

It tends to drip a bit on the floor, but is easily wiped up. After rubbing it into my hands for a bit they become covered in chalk... and somehow the chalk doesn't leave the hands. Doesn't get on my clothes, the bar, or even the black chinup handles I use.

I've noticed it helping my grip on chin-ups the most as well!

Good stuff. The relative cleanliness of the liquid chalk is what led me to rave so much about it. I was sold! What brand are you using?

only brand I could find in my entire city... it is mostly an online specialty product I believe. This was for mountain climbing, but it works

Re: Dead lift inquiry!

I also noticed today that the way you approach to the bar makes quite a bit of a difference. I initially couldn't get the 275lbs off the ground, because I *thought* it was only 255. Then I realized I had 25's on each side in addition to two plates.

Once figured, it was much easier.
