Value is relative, if the unit doesnt work as one expects, there is NO value present.

I was excited about the Dynavin, ready to pull our nav and switch over. Reading the reviews caused a bit of concern and now that I have finally had my hands on one for a bit, consider this review to be spot on. In the near future the unit might be great but as it is now, my SO would not be happy with it in her car.

It is good to see a product with good support and a vendor spending a large amount of time servicing the forums. Hopefully the bugs will be worked out and the product continues to improve.
My Biggest hope, but I don't think it is going to happen is the Radio side of the unit gets updated. But from everything I have read, I doubt that any major changes will be made to it. I have the Nav working so I am happy about that. But the Radio Side is not for me, to use to Alpines ans Kenwoods

Good luck!
I had the OEM iPod Thing in her car, wan't really any good. Everytime you turned the car off and then back on again you had to hit play on the iPod itself. Was a pain and also navigating using the steering wheel controls was terrible. I have seen some clean installs of aftermarket Double Dins, They look great, but it is a lot of work!!

Dynavin into Alpine PXE H650 processor.

The Dynavin alters the bass/treble output at different head unit volumes.

Well I have had this unit in the car for awhile (Wife's Car). I only installed 2 apps on it. CoPilot for Nav and Pandora, but I never use the Pandora at all. I never connect to the internet with the head unit either. My wife has used the CoPilot about 10 times so far and it works pretty good. But today, all she gets is Force Close when she tries to use the NAV.
In the end, this unit is just not reliable for someone wanting somewhat trouble free use. It is like going into battle with a rife that only works sometimes- NOT A GOOD IDEA!
So in the end, I would highly suggest STAYING AWAY FROM THIS HEAD UNIT UNTIL ALL BUGS ARE FIXED. But to be honest, I don't seeing Dynavin putting much effort into fixing this thing. Face it, they have had plenty of time to perfect it, and it still has a lot of issues!

answered this on the android thread. im not going to argue with you, your opinion is fine, but your comments about dynavin not putting effort into these is way off base. At this point this is the only android based headunit in the world....and dynavin has worked and continues to work on the platform.

Really don't care if you think this thing is great or not- YOU SELL THEM - you are not unbiased...

What effort has been put into fixing this unit in the last month- "Reinstall Firmware" that is all I keep hearing....

Where is the list of fixes and dates of fixes from Dynavin......

Thumbs Up UPDATE - Review of Windows Dynavin!!

Well I couldn't handle the Android Dynavin anymore, so I traded it for a WinCE version....

I think the WinCE version is much better, and more suited for a direct replacement Nav unit in the E46. The WinCE version seems a lot more plug and play. Nav (iGo8) works great, better than my Kenwood Nav (Although I can't seem to figure out how to get it to say the street names). Radio side is the same on the Android unit. Could stand to have the firmware upgraded, but defiantly usable. Seems to be working like a stock head unit.

I did have some problems with the little white housings behind the knobs breaking off, I took it a part and hot glued them in place and they are fine. BUT I did get this unit used and it looks like the previous owner had taken it apart before. So my guess is if you buy this unit new it will be fine (My Android unit was fine). One thing I did notice right away was that the touchscreen on the WinCE version worked WAY better than on the Android version- I don't know why that is, but I am not complaining!

All in all, if you are looking for a replacement Nav unit for your E46- I recommend the Dynavin WinCE version. When I buy another E46, I am Definitively going to buy another one of these WinCE units form Jeff.

Pros Of the Dynavin WinCE unit-
1) Price (for about $650 it is worth it)
2) Nav seems to work better than my Kenwood Nav (My wife loves the Nav, and she use to have a Kenwood Nav in her old car)
3) Looks factory!!!
4) Pretty easy to use
5) Installation with Jeff's instructions is super easy

Cons Of the Dynavin WinCE unit-
1) The Radio side needs the firmware upgraded to add some features....

Where?
I'm getting tired of business cd ****, I have a 6190 kenwood and I absolutely love it.

The WinCE looks like to be the unit for me, but I need to see some more about it.

There are literally hundreds of pages and dozens of threads about Dynavin on this forum, start here: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=946958

There are also links to relevant threads on our website.

As I said before, this thread we are on now is old, a couple years and 3 generations of Dynavin have passed, if you are looking for info this thread is not particularly relevant to the current stuff
