OBC Retrofit Wiring

I bought a stripper model 320i used a few months ago. It didn't come with OBC from the factory. I bought the OBC stalk recently, and swapped it out. The problem I'm having however, is that the OBC wire is not present. I've read that this is supposed to plug into the back of the instrument cluster, and seen the diagram for the retrofit. However, my electrical schematic-reading skills are poor, and I haven't seen any DIYs that directly indicate where it should plug in, other than the left plug. Does anyone have any detailed guidance as to where that wire should run? I've also had no luck sourcing the retrofit harness... suggestions on where to get one if I should go that route?

Weird. When I retrofitted OBC to my 325i all I did was take out the old stalk and put in the new one. Then I used DIS to enable it. There wasn't a single wire I added anywhere so its surprising for me to hear that BMW would actually make the cluster different for the 320i.

I bought my stalk from www.bmrparts.com and they may be able to help you with parts... My used stalk was only $25.

same here, just plug, play and code the car.. have you actually code your car after you replaced the unit? I dont recall seeing any extra wires when i did mine..

I used DIS to code it... hadn't paid attention to the wire the first time around, just assumed it was plug, code, and play. The part is a good part, the second one I tried actually, since I thought the first part I got from a buddy was defective. I did see a post by someone else a while back about needing to run the wire, so I assume it's probably an issue on the low end models. There is actually an EBA doc that talks about the retrofit kit/wiring harness (file name '282en.pdf'). You can also see the kit description here: http://bmwfans***91;/img] ** SPAM LINK BL...g/62130015965/

I'll reach out to FGIN.

Edit: does not like the link... not sure how to get around that.
