Not a bolt-on application. Cut a hole!

Half way down the page is the start of me retrofitting OEM M3 side mirrors on my sedan. Some photos and how it looks finished.

I was just wondering if #16 on this diagram will work with number #4. I searched on real oem, and the #16 for my car (325ci) looks identical to the m3 #16. So I am just trying to make sure that if I buy #4 (M3 brake ducts) they'll connect properly. I did some searching on the forum as well, but brake duct installation is almost always overlooked when people install OEM M3 or replica bumpers. thanks.

So I think I might get it. Number 19 and 4 are only on the m3. Number 16 is only for non-m pre-facelift coupes. I just ordered the m3 brake ducts, and it looks like all I need to do is swap 19 & 4 in place of number 16. I'll post up my results if I'm correct.

is it necessary to modify something at the door of an sedan/wagon too?

Take a look at the link I posted a couple of posts up. I have photos of what needs to be taken off on the door and the holes that you need to drill.

So I just did the M3 brake duct install with parts 19 & 4 of the diagram. They were pretty much a direct swap for non-M coupes. The air channel from the left brake duct to the alternator even connects. All that needed to be done was cutting the circle tip on the brake duct. I'm very satisfied with the results.

Correct me If I'm wrong, but wont an m3 hood or m3 style hood fit on a pre face lift sedan? I would like the m3 hood look, not the GTR hood.

no, the OEM M3 hood will not fit a e46 sedan. You'll have to find a M3 style hood thats meant for a pre facelift sedan.

Covered in initial post.

Yeah I caught that part. I just wasn't sure if "doesn't fit sedan" mean't face lifted sedans.

1: I'm going to do an S54 swap.
2: Its cosmetic and subtle, Unlike the GTR carbon fiber hood you can pick up anywhere.
3: I had an M3 once. It was totaled by some asshole. The main reason I didn't get another one is because the insurance is insane.
4: why do you care?

because it slowly cheapens the real m3's and insurance isnt that bad, ur gona spend all that money swaping everything to a 3 series even the engine and complain about $ for insurance ?

the thread was started some 7 years ago. it was around before many aftermarket parts were available. it's not about making cars into "M3 look-alikes". it's about which parts and what's involved using genuine BMW (or OEM M3) parts to upgrade in many areas the E46 platform non-Ms. yes some of these "upgrades" are cosmetics, but seeing how you installed CSL look-alike splitters on your non-CSL M3 i think you understand the desire to upgrade the looks..no?

1 piece trunk lip? I've only seen 1 or 2 for sale for coupe/sedan, and maybe a dozen for convertible. Someone should make a mold of that ASAP and sell replicas

Maybe you can still find some new old stock parts on the internet, but I'm sure it will run you about $600. Worth it though IMO

Another good option would be Alpina 1 piece trunk lip
