Full BSW setup in an 03 M3

Im ready to buy the BSW stage 1 speaker package amd the subwoofer setup in my M3. Eventually i will be adding the new JL Audio 100x8 amplifier, but will run the stock HK amp for now. Anybody know how the BSW speakers will respond to a better amplifier? Can they handle an aftermarket amp or are they just meant as stock replacements to be run off the stock HK amp? Thanks!

They sound way better than stock just run it with the stock amp. It's not worth the hassle of swapping amps.

They sound better with an after market amp, but it is some work to set up.

Its definitely worth the hassle of switching amps. Just tap into the Line outs before the stock amp.

I wouldn't wait. Put a killer amp in there.

Swapping the amp is fairly easy. There are diagrams all over to tell you what wires are what. Then just 1 wire at a time cut it off the plug and label it. Definitely worth the upgrade because the factory amp doesn't have enough output to power the speakers loud and clear. Sure replacing a 10yr old speaker will sound better at low volume but once they get to higher volumes the amp is going to be your enemy and clip your brand new speakers and can ruin them.

Our speakers can handle ~65W RMS so the ceiling is there for more power! I would give it a run without an amp to start and enjoy. Most comment it is how they wanted their car to sound from the beginning. Thus would not have been on the forums/google trying to find an upgrade

Don't forget to add the Stage 1 to your cart first. Will get 50 off the subwoofer! If you need anything else please let me know!

3ohm is only for HK package. 2ohm is for a non-HK package.

This pretty much sums up all of my findings. Put a good amp in and you can find many great speakers on the market that will fit. From what I understand the Diamond Audio Hex's bolt right in. Others may need a bit of simple modification to the speaker rings but nothing to worry about. But again if you are powering them with the stock amp you are going to run out of headroom fast. If you are already planning to add the JL amp than no need to add the BSW setup. There are way better options out there for the money IMHO

I'm running stage 1 package with stock H/K amp, sounds great in my opinion I like good and clean sound, this fills up my needs.
I have a aftermarket sub in the boot aswell.
