BMW M5 crushed by tree

Member alex2364 and kabawi91 caught this F10 BMW M5 crushed by a tree in DC. Of course it didn't take long for the memes to start.

That's odd. That's a $100k car. Assuming it's financed, it has to have full coverage as required by the lender. If it was paid in cash, he would be an idiot not to have coverage. Either way, stupid

Finally found the original reddit thread
http://www.reddit.com/r/BMW/comments...d_to_a_new_m5/

Quote:
I'm a member of BimmerAlliance, a BMW group with members in the mid-Atlantic USA. The pics are taken in Foggy Bottom, D.C. The owner is not a member, but is friends with a few that are.
-Can't be totalled, no insurance -He said it's still driveable, and is looking into getting it repaired. -[Insurance] expired earlier this week and he put off renewing it. -It's being sent to a local shop now, apparently the damage isn't all that bad. -Guesstimates for repairs in the 15-20k range.
Seems that the impact was lessened by the cab, and the fact that the branches hit the ground before the car... slowing the fall a bit.
As others have mentioned, I'd be checking with the city to see if there was any carelessness in the tree's placement that they can be sued for. Might help offset some costs.

"A local member of the BMW group I am a part of mentions that the car is still parked in the same spot, and has a total of 3 parking tickets as of this morning. Here's a pic of the first ticket, from last night"
