Can't wait to see those videos...

Intercooler was as big as the front bumper could accomodate.

I am on E100 and wanted to test a smaller intercooler.

Once the test intercooler Works 100 % I will build a sexier cooler.

Mert, you are a 'Built not Bought' enthusiast! Very impressive work!

What are your experiences with running a turbo blanket? Have you noticed any premature wear on bearings, drops in air intake temps, spool times, etc.?

blanket keeps engine bay cooler, less heat dissepation.

spool: I have no tests. Good question.

Basar, XM3 just hit the road today.

It drives without issues but there are details to be done such as installation of seat belts, fuel filters....etc. The seat is custom made so we have to install belt. These are small details but take time.

Then comes mapping:

Mapping of AWD
Mapping of engine
Mapping of Automatic transmission.

All I can tell is that we tried to launch several times, XM3 simply "launched". There is definetely more traction.

After my last track event when the right FCAB and turbo oil line melted down the turbo blanket has gone into my engine bay regardless of the outcome.
I don't think I noticed any big difference but definitely not worried about having stuff melting...

If you plan tracking the (HPF) car EVER this is a MUST!

I can go out for a test only on sundays.

Went out last sunday, it was the first real road test of XM3.

Was raining. wide open throttle under rain 12 psi boost pressure.

Traction is good under rain @ 12 psi on 225 tires.

I had 225 - 40 - 18 Pirelli Tropheo tires.

This combination of wet road / 225 tires / AWD gave good traction. Acceleration is like on 315 tires on DRY SURFACE.

Turned OFF AWD, in RWD mode 12 psi and the M3 just wheel spinned. It simply did not accelerate.

Had to abort as ABS did not work, I did not want to risk.

At the end of the day, all wheel drive system works. Need to fix small bugs such as ABS, new seat belts needed and some small details. Then test on a dry day.

Traction was very good.

The way AWD kicked in ON THE FLY was awesome.

We dont hear any strange sounds once the AWD comes ON. It comes on and off without any stress.

Steering angle sensor not working
Left front Wheel speed sensor not working

Ordered the sensors, will take 2 weeks to get them.

Meanwhile will test w/o ABS.

Were these your only two problems? I'm worried how many issues I will have when I first test it...

R u using all the control modules from the m3? Dme, EWS, LCM, cluster?

I had issues which were related to the AWD system's control, building a seat to fit into the car and some more.

I am not an engineer so my design of the AWD system was not perfect.

Add to that it was the 1st AWD system that I designed and built. My second AWD system will be "better" than this 1st AWD system.

This XM3 does not have A/C.
EWS Works, I used OEM E46 M3 keys and M3 EWS.
Cluster is E46 M3. It Works but but its like a christmas tree as I have Pectel ECU which controls % 99 of the car.

OEM DME is there to run Speedo and hifi.
ABS is swapped from E46 M3.

I need to order 2 front Wheel speed sensors, till then no ABS

My assistant took XM3 for a short ride today.

2nd gear / 15 psi boost pressure / 225 -40-18 tires R compound / traction control OFF / AWD ON / poor road surface =

front Wheel speed 56 mph
rear Wheel speed 62 mph

this is on a poor surface, tires not warmed, off the garage wide open throttle,
3500 cc stroked S54, twin GTX3076

Well, there is still some Wheel speed difference 62-56 = 6 mph, this means Wheel spin.

Good news XM3 goes straight, does not go to either sides, does not loose the back, the head does not pull to the sides, XM3 goes as if it is on rails.

Remember 15 psi / S54 B35 is hard on 225 tires.

Whats next: warmed 225 tires / 15 psi / 20 % torque to the front axle / 25 % torque to the front axle........../ 40 % torque to the front axle....

Once these tests are finished time to get fenders opened up for 315 tires.
