Time for Inspection 1... Cost question

Stealership quoting me $425.... What is generally accepted cost wise for Inspection 1?

People pay for Inspection I?

If you have your Owner's Manual, you can do this yourself. Take an afternoon on Saturday and look over your car. The list for Inspection I is in the manual.

Excuse my ignorance, but when is Inspection I and Inspection II supposed to take place in your maintenance routine?

That is too much. Stay away from dealers.

If you can, just do the maintenance yourself (oil & filters). This will cost around $100 for the parts. Then, if you don't feel comfortable doing the actual inspection, take the car to an indy shop and ask them to do a new car inspection, which will probably cost another $100.

BMW's schedule:
Oil Service
Inspection I
Oil Service
Inspection II
Oil Service
Inspection I... etc.

Every 15k between the items above, so every 30k between inspections as noted by Drew.

Although for most on this site I imagine the Inspection is probably an ongoing task whenever they're in and around the different parts of the car, instead of waiting for any mileage interval.

I'm terrible at sticking to the intervals and doing everything together at once on my car. Inspections and maintenance is usually an ongoing task.
