What we're saying though, isn't that we don't believe he's 196, but according to the description we expected that 196 to look much different.

I'm guessing he's taking a lot of creatine and holding a lot of water weight.

I can agree with that. Keep in mind it's a picture too. He's not standing next to anyone for reference.

weight is a useless measurement without an accurate body fat % estimate, which would then allow for an actual useful unit of measurement... lean body mass.

hence why BMI is also a useless measurement, height and weight are not representative of one's physique. Height, weight, and relative strength levels (a hint to their LBM %) can give a decent estimate at least.

dat der cell tech.

he could very well be in the 190s.. maybe he had shoes and clothes on the scale also (and holding a water bottle ) but in all seriousness, my friend who used to train with me was 205 @ 6' and didn't like over 175, his bone structure though is massive, plus he probably has a bunch of sh1t backed up in him because his diet is purely red meat, whiskey, and cigs.

All I'm saying is there are many other factors that go in to determining someone's weight other than muscle, height, and fat. Bone structure, digestive performance, and a few others play into account. Depending on his leg size he could easily be in the 190s, when I was in the 190s and it wasn't my perception of what I thought I would look like (I'm 5'10), I was a little bit smaller than I had hoped.

6'0 here... I was 171 lbs when I started working out 3.5 years ago, and was benching 25lb db's. I was 196 lbs jan/11 (and happy since I thought i was "bulking"), and was benching 135lbs x 5, pressing 50 x 5, and squatting 135 x 5. I'm 170 lbs today, and bench 185x5, press 125x5, and squat 260x5.

So besides the fact I was terribly weak to start, just goes to show how weight really doesn't meant a whole lot without the rest of the facts

^true. Although in the 190s I was repping 315 4-5 times, now I can get it up twice after a good day of carbs

I thought I'd be big compared to what I was when I hit 177-180. I was not lol. I looked the damn same! lol. Now I feel like to look big I would need to be 200lbs haha

I agree with you here.... Starting out I was 135lbs. My squat was 100lbs, my deadlift was 135, my bench was 90. I maxed out at 200lbs. My squat was 225, my deadlift was 315, my bench was 250. I now weigh 165. My squat is 385x3, my deadlift is 435x 3, I don't bench anymore but I've pressed 100lb dumbbells for a PR of 10 reps.

Don't hold me to exact numbers I know I've posted them before and I'm prob off a few lbs on each, but you get my point.

Why would you anticipate such a thing?

Not bad at all. When you cut that chest is really going to be awesome.

If i remember right, you're more of a lower guy though, right?

i'd rather be strong & "fat" (you aren't lol) than where I am right now (somewhat lean and average strength imo), because I know I could cut it away. muscle building to that strength level takes a long time, at least from what I've experienced so far

Thanks. Yeah, definitely focus more on the lower body than anything. My legs are huge but
mostly undefined.

I'm surprised I've kept as much mass and I have, I've been running 20 miles a week and doing a ton of conditioning for the past 2 months.

It gain muscle pretty easily but cutting is a struggle. Could be that I drink everyday.....

Re: Am i a freak or am i just working harder than most?

Just a little update. Still making quality gains and not getting fat.

Proof provided....

Now my weak points I'm going to focus more on are chest, shoulders and legs. With my back injury i can't go real heavy on legs so I'm just working towards getting my legs ripped right now.

happy 4th everyone!

P.s. Picture is right after waking up, no gym pump....

How are you focusing on them getting ripped? Just doing light stuff? Diet would be the way to go

Between diet and low weight high rep exercises. More leg extensions (15+reps) and leg curls (a bit higher weight around 10 reps). Lots of squat lunges and one leg dumbbell squats. High rep hip aduction and abduction, yoga, and kenpo to give you an idea of the plan.

This isn't everything and it isn't exact (i don't like writing up my workouts). As i get more into it, things will get changed and i will learn more as my body begins to change according to this, but the above is the general, short version of the concept.
