i was looking at the DICE ipon addon replacement to the stacker, but read alot of people have had issues with it needing resetting when the car is turned off, or it stuffs around, etc
do you think taking it to an auto electrician if the spray fails would do? i dont know how good they are are playing with Alpine stackers
I doubt that an auto electrician would know much about fixing a CD changer, you'd need to take it to an audio specialist but get a quote first before they work on it.

ok ive sprayed the changer with some Silicon Spray, then inserted the mag in the stacker.
it worked fine...im not sure whether it was the spray or not...but coincidently it worked.
however just before i bolted the stacker down and put the trim back in, i gave it 1 more short spray and closed it off.
sat in the car and pressed MODE, it said "NO CARTRIDGE"
i went back to the stacker, pressed EJECT and IT WULDNT COME OUT!

Silicon spray alone wouldn't have caused that, are you sure you put the cartridge in the right way up?

Hey Darkoz...

Yeah i put it right way up, surprisingly, its working now!
the cartridge ejected, i re-inserted it, and it opened all trays. hoorayy
im ruling out coincidence at this stage, so yeah, thnx for the silicon tip.

one thing for certain, im going to be listening to these same 3 CDs for a very long time,
I don't want to eject the cartridge and re-insert it, fearing it wont open the trays again.

This is what happened initially, it was working perfect, i ejected the stacker to load 1 more disc in, loaded in and it said "NO DISC"
and there ya go, the problem started where the stacker just wont open the trays.

I've got this same problem. Where exactly do I spray the silicone spray?

On the mechanical parts according to an earlier post but not sure exactly which ones as I had mine open last night and it would be quite easy to get it on the pcb or laser head.

I know this thread is old but it might help others, I had the exact problem earlier after fitting my iPhone cable supplied by fruity car cables which tricks the car to thinking you have a cd in the cd changer when you have the iPhone in instead only problem is you need to keep a cd in one of the slots, anyway I digress .... So I tried putting the disc in changing slots around etc and after 45 mins I immaturely whacked it on the side, from which I heard a disc loading, shazam it worked, tried it 5 times again to make sure before I revive an old thread hope this helps others

My e46 m3 devolved the same fault and I read somewhere that if you take the grey cover off that houses the CD player and as you eject and push back in the cd cassette smack the top of the player repeatedly until it loads, I've just done it and it has fixed it cd loaded first time

Mine only seems to do it when you initially load the cartridge, and even then it's only about 25% of the time, and a hard whack always fixes it. In addition i noticed for some reason once it gets to the end of disk 6 and it "stops" (I.E. the disk is over with and i don't have it set up to repeat) i'll get the disk error and i have to pop out the cartridge and pop it back in. However if i immediatly go to disk 1 or any other disk at the end of disk 6 it never messes up.

SO in short i only get the error issues when it loads the disks the first time, or it goes from disk 6 ro disk 1 on it's own. Minor inconvienence since i don't use it much, so it's not a big deal to me.
