Hello Philly

In Philly for a few days for work. Where to eat and what to do?

Where are you going to be? If you're in Center City and looking for a cool bar, you can hit up Nodding Head Brewery on Sansom Street. Or if you're looking for a classy restaurant, hit up XIX in The Bellevue.

Since you're on the river, you should hit up City Tavern. It's on South 2nd Street, a couple blocks from where you're staying.
My buddy works there. It's one of the oldest bars in the nation, and they serve authentic colonial food and beer. The chef, Walter Staib, is a big deal here.

You could also hit up a Phillies game -- they're playing the Mets starting tomorrow. The Phillies suck this year, but Citizens Bank Park is one of the best sports venues in the country, with some pretty good food, if you're into that kind of thing. Just head south on 95.

Hello Philly

I wish I could swing the baseball game(hardcore baseball fan) I am at an IT conference for Friday and Saturday. I will defiantly go to that bar tomorrow night. I also have not had a real Philly cheese steak in 11 years so I am due. I was a cook in college and was paid to go to Philly and figure out how to make the real deal. But in the end it's not a really Philly cheese steak unless you get it in Philly.

Don't go too far off market street unless you like bullets in your head. Most of philly is a dump.

Thanks Ocho, wish I was in town longer would have got you a beer tonight. City Tavern was great.
