My Ride: Z4 3.0i ESS TS2+
Cool E85 fanatic

Hi,
I'm new here (after reading some years) and own a 2004 E85 Z4 3.0i.
I've done some mods to my car and I get a lot of really insightful information from this forum because the z4 and e46 obviously have a lot in common technically.

So here is the introduction of my car.

the car itself.



What I've done with the car so far (the major upgrades):

I installed a Quaife LSD:



  • 2
I Installed an ESS TS2 kit:

I installed Schrick FI camshafts (248/256) as part of a ESS TS2+ upgrade:

I installed and modified Schmiedmann headers and high flow cats (200cell) (also part of the TS2+ upgrade). These are initially designed for the e46 and have an excellent price/performance. The tube diameter is much larger than stock, so it also uses a different flange between the headers and midsection. The midsection is included because thats where the cathalitic converters are situated (mid muffler delete):

Headers installed (I had them ceramically coated (Cerakote) afterwards

I installed an ECS Brembo/BMW OEM front BBK set:

I designed my own rear Brembo/BMW OEM rear BBK set.
This set consists of a rear 135i/m3 BMW performance (brembo) caliper with some modifications, rear drilled X3 rotors (also with some modifications obviously) and a custom made e-brake (because the x3 rotor has a larger interior drum); a bit similar as a 330i rear brake swap onto a lower model.



Some of these modifications were very easy (like the front bbk; it's bolt on) and others had some more work to it, especially if you have to make something custom from scratch
I have a lot more pictures from the build but that would be too much for 1 post.

And I did some minor modifications like cdv delete, vanos seals/anti rattle, poly fcab's poly anti roll bushings etc.

The next step is probably swapping the rear rubber bushings for poly bushings, as much as possible. But I'm still missing/hesitating over some, especially the diff.
