E46 M3 2004SMG Bucks and lurches violently when cold

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All
2004 E46 M3 SMG
I am sure this is not the first post on this topic... I really hope there is a fix.
When the car is cold, both in the morning and when I leave my work in the afternoon, the car sometimes lurches and bucks for a minute or so, until it warms up I guess. A couple of weeks ago I almost had to pull off the road to avoid getting rear ended because it bucked so much...really annoyed me.
Can this be fixed, or is it something I have to live with.

Thanks in advance for your help

My 6MT does this when its cold and the sport button is on. It's not a everyday thing though. Maybe 1 startup in 500. I'm thinking in your case that computer has the transmission in too high of gear. This will cause the car buck as well. (Don't ask how I know). Lol

Drive better?

Are you using sport mode? If so your experiencing something that happens even with the car warm. You have to have a smooth pedal foot to take off smoothly in the SMG's since we don't have a clutch pedal to slowly release for a smooth take off.

What mode are you shifting in? I daily in s5, but if my car has been sitting for like 2 days, or it's been cold out over night, i will take off in 3 or 4 so the car warms up before turning it up to s5.
