Re: Just ordered a Eonon D5150! (New version of Eonon D5113/Enco B146)

Okay.

Took out my installation yesterday to try and figure out my poor radio reception.

Connected the blue ANT wire from the aerial to the blue ANT wire from the back of the unit which seems to be a switched live.

Now the reception is worse.

What gives ??

My car is a 2005 touring UK spec.

yeah, the blue wire attached to the aerial adapter does the best part of **** all, I had a play with the aerial booster in the c pillar, if I disconnect the aerial I lose all signal as expected and if I disconnect the power lead, again the same, no signal, which tells me the amp must be working, right?
The only option left seems to be an after market aerial amplifier.

Reverse camera

Just reading through and I see some guys do not have their reverse camera's powering up. To ensure the camera becomes active when you shift into reverse, tap the 12v into one if the reverse lights' 12v line. Logic is the camera powers up when reverse is selected. Hope this helps

Ordered mine Friday, received Monday morning.
Installed it that night.

Had to splice the blue cable and connect the 2 blue cables(amp one is labeled wrong)

Tried to configure my touch setting, and wouldn't let me finish the calibration.. had to hard reset the power.

reception is a bit crappy, but i never use radio so dont really care.

have the same cambus issue as esberelias, with it not returning to whatever was playing when it turned off.. Goes to aux then radio or straight to radio, but im not fussed.

I have a kicker amp/sub in the boot, just connected the remote cable to the same amp splice and works perfect. had an issue with signal detect with my amp, had to be real loud/super bassy for the amp to actually detect.. drove me nuts, but all good if you dont use signal detect.

pretty happy with the unit overall, super easy to install and runs awesome.
definitely worth the money!

eBay so many resellers on eBay!

Still get 1 year warranty, but 2 from Eonon

Eonon live chat dont seem to really want to help you if you buy it from a reseller as well.

Thanks, I am trying to decide what to get because I have been doing some research and those units are great for the money but these ones have my eye: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3D-Androi...cb4d1e5&_uhb=1.

They have 1.2 GHz dual core processors, 1 GB DDR3 RAM modules, AND run android 4.04...This means you get android app use eg Torque etc direct on your unit and the user interface to me looks more enticing. Cost a bit more than the Eonon units, 1 year warranty though and they seem like unbranded items. That said though , they are the exact same unit being sold in the UK by a small company called "Andrive" : and that looks amazing.

I will let you guys know when/if I get one and how they perform.

my radio reception is ok,perhaps the d5150 is not quite as good in that department as the d5113 was,but quite acceptable for me,i have not swapped the two blue wires in the harness as everything seems to work ok for me,the sound quality is great, much better than my d5113 was, even Bluetooth streaming is good audio quality, indistinguishable from ipod or cd,at least to my ears,i paid 300 bucks with shipping for this unit, for all the features it has I am happy to live with a few little niggles, its an absolute bargain

I think given they are trying to keep the look OEM which is the selling point, they will all look just about the same. Thats why I have been comparing the specs and so far the Android one kicks ass (I think the 5150 has 128mb ram) but then again, if it is only running WinCe maybe anything more would be overkill. Still deciding but the limitless android apps are really appealing at the moment. Means you can use google maps, copilot or any nav software you would use on a smart phone, and basically any android app available. With the wifi/3G capability, sounds like a lot os utility pretty much a carpc. Still deciding though....

I've heard from a ton of people that you don't want android. Impossible to hit on screen buttons when driving.

Thanks for the heads up Scooby. Watching the Android 4.04 video from Andrive though, i am inclined to think that was an Android 2 issue (Dynavin android versions were 2.2 only) and if the issue was responsiveness I would say should be remedied by the dual core processor and the gig of DDR3 RAM. The android 4.04 is only running when required, for audio etc it uses the main system. Still deciding though...

Sorry, it's not the processing power, it's capacitive vs resistive touchscreen, all the head units we are looking here have only resistive touchscreen, even the android ones. And resistive touchscreen is not only lack of touch sensitivity, it also does not support multi touch, so no pinch and zoom within apps., no pinch and zoom in Google map and navigator. So the resistive touchscreen is not the best choose for the Android system. I think there are only couple units out in the market uses capacitive screen, but they always have a problem of sun reflection glare which make the screen unreadable, that's why most of the manufacturer still uses resistive screen on their unit. Hope this helps.

I am in the process right now, using a 5m extension cable. I had the h/u plugged straight into the connection in the boot and all functions work correctly, only had to connect the amp wires.

Now to pull apart all the internal fittings..

I'm about to do the same but am yet to buy the 5M cable. Which brand 5m cable did you buy? (I know I'll need the 40pin version as I'm a 2004 E46). Did you end up having to splice it into the Eonon harness or was it plug and play? Did you also need the antenna extension? How's the radio reception for you here in Aus? Cheers.

For people that actually installed the rear view camera. Which wires do you tap into for ground and power? I'm pretty bad with the multimeter however after I install a rear view camera my set up will be all set and I'll post a DIY for everything. So any input would help you all out as well. I tried to wire it up to the reverse lights but it's not working.

Depends on the camera you have but it should have a +12V, a ground and the video signal wires. The ground gets grounded (your choice where), the +12V, I tapped into one of the reverse light +12V line (idea is the camera gets powered when the light comes on ie when the car is in reverse) and the video line goes to the head unit.
