Having trouble aim the passenger headlight

I tried inserting an allen wrench in the hole to adjust the headlight aim, but it didn't go up or down. Am I doing it right?

To remove the turn signal, you put a screwdriver in the hole to push down on the pinchie thing... to release it so that you can slide it forward. pg. 154 manual

To adjust the headlamp you simple turn (with your fingers) that thing that looks like a sundial or a Ritz cracker.

In the manual there are a few instructions to changing lights and stuff. You can check it out. It's really simple to do. I have a copy of the manual on my computer. You can go to the link and download one for your car.

Out of all the cars that I've own, the E46 has been the easiest to replace basic stuff. Well except for that time I tried changing the turn signal. The previous owner had broken the spring (the thing that's in that hole) and the turn signal was stuck. So I got a friend to help me slide it forward. It was beeyatch.

Pre-facelift coupe and all sedans, turn the cog. Facelift coupe, stick an allen key in the hole and turn. If I remember correctly, facing the direction the headlights are pointing: left is up, right is down. If you don't have an allen key, your screwdriver in the trunk will actually work in a pinch

Turn signals on the facelift coupe are a biiiitch because the fitment is so tight. Gotta remove the freaking washer fluid tank to get the passenger side.

I tried to turn the dial with my hand and then with an allen key. I didn't notice any movement. If I turn to the right, is it supposed to go up or down?

Okay sorry. I was trying to remember what I did on my old 328ci.

I googled "how to adjust E46 headlamps" and found this http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ght+adjustment

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but the link explains how to aim them, not how the lights are moved. I turned the dial both ways and didn't see any movement to the light. :-(
