Silencerco, how I destroyed my silencer + customer service

About 3 years ago I bought my first silencerco silencer, a early low SN SS sparrow. In that time I've fired it practically every weekend and a great deal screwing around at work.

I cleaned it once at around 500 rounds..... and I lost track of the rounds at right around 8k more after cleaning. I completely wore out a walther p22 with that can. Needless to say the weight was twice what it used to be but it still had great suppression.

Being the DIY guy that I am, well knowing that dipping the outter tube could destroy me finish I dipped it any way. Then I tried to beat the inner tube out with a hammer mushrooming the threaded end.

No finish left, rust spots, and locked up....I contacted silencerco expecting a rather large bill because it was 100% my fault. I told them to contact me about repair costs when they have a chance to look at it.

2 weeks later, she showed back up. New monocore, new end cap, new clam shells, and a refinished tube.

Cost to the dumbass who broke it..... $0 Even came in a brand new box with paperwork and a NEW silencer holster.

silencerco is an awesome company, it pays off buying a silencer from a known company.

Re: Silencerco, how I destroyed my silencer + customer service

That is awesome customer service!!

So in this case I guess this question doesn't completely apply since I'm assuming the SN is on the tube. But, what would have happened if the tube had failed catastrophically, would all the NFA stuff have to be done all over again? Or is there something that covers replacements from the dealer/manufacturer??

As long as the sn is intact you can repair or modify the tube. A lot of sten mkII smg's are turned in to sterlings or lancasters. Silencers can be upgraded or repaired as needed. That said, with a total failure of the tube it would have to be replaced. I'm sure if it was something under warranty they would help resolve the issue.

Likely hood of a SS sparrows tube getting damaged is slim. The inner clam shells will help protect it from a major failure. Because of the design there is no threads on the tube so chances of anyone ever hurting one from firing it from a proper host is slim to none.
