Why do they use board shorts. I don't need a thong, but hiding a large portion of your legs doesn't make sense.

I know some guys who compete and do well in physique contests. A lot of them are pretty big....big enough to do bodybuilding it seems

Ever since I became a dad, I haven't really taken any pics of myself, but I'm definitely not ready for a show yet. I could use a good 2 months of prepping and dieting.
Here's me(on the left) and my buddy in Vegas last Sept(yes I dieted for vegas):

Your midsection is good, but you need a LOT more size through the chest and arms to compete.

They're called "physique competitions" and "physique competitors" but this is bodybuilding.

I'd say about 1/3 of the guys could do well in bodybuilding, but when you consider what goes into doing really well (i.e. pro) in bodybuilding, I think it's understandable.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

My arms are probably the best out of all my parts. The pic is just not doing it justice. My chest definitely needs work and I already switched up my routine for that. Also, i was about 25 lbs lighter in that pic. My abs are not like that right now. Lol.

So i'm about two months out...Holy heck dieting sucks! But, between cardio and dieting, I already lost 6 pounds in about 1.5 weeks time.

What are you weighing? I know a few people that have done men's physique competitions. And even though they have no where near the mass of a competitive bodybuilder they're still usually the biggest dude in any given gym during the off season. The guys I know walk around 220-230lbs off season and once dieted down to competition shape they're like 175-185ish at about 3% bf.

I was about 160, but now I'm about 150. I'm also 5'6" so I look heavier. I'll shoot to come in at around 140 or whatever weight that I look shredded and have some muscle mass. I'd rather come in super shredded than bulky. I know if I work on the posing I could sell it better but I literally know jack sh1t about men's physique. Just doing it to do it.

I hear ya. All I really want to do is come in shredded for this first show. It's an npc show so I'm sure there's gonna be some sauce heads there. Hopefully my natural look will wow the judges.

That'll be a decent weight for your 1st... If you like it and want to compete more seriously you'll probably wanna come in at mid 160s and shredded. Men's physique is supposed to be more aesthetically pleasing than "bodybuilders". But like bodybuilding, the trend in recent years seems to be just getting as big as possible and throwing aesthetics out the window...

For now I only plan to do this one. This is more for myself than it is to compete. I just want to see what my body is like at 4% bf. Lol
