My Ride: E30 with an S52
Re: I'm taking the plunge and joining a gym. Some input needed.

Went this morning. Ran for 20 minutes, did two sets of bench press, two sets of curls, one set of lat pull downs, one set of triceps extensions, two sets of shoulder press, and... I think that was it.

This.

Bro, you have so many options out there. Don't go in there and do one set of this, one set of that. Go into the gym with purpose and a goal, and achieve that goal. Make the weights your biaaatch

I focused on abs, back, and legs last night. I should tone it down to target different areas more, but I've always had an "upper body one day, lower body the next" plan in high school. Granted, this was ten years ago when I started into it, but I do remember it worked very, very well.

Get a plan in place. Don't just go in the gym randomly.
