back to original post revving it in neutral a. isnt gona show you the sound you get, you gota go wide open throttle under load. 50x louder/more aggressive. plus i love that initial whoosh of air when you floor it, and the little cough when you kill the engine. I wouldnt rev it up with no filter anyways. I had my intake on for a while and it had a good whistle to it. i took it off for a few mos and recently put it back on and theres barely ANY whistle. can't explain it but for those of you who have annoying whistle, double check to make sure everything is tight. my .02 on intakes

The engine is under some load revving it up. If it had no load it would rev a lot quicker than it currently does.

I've even driven with other people who have cold air intakes on their cars. Can't hear them over the engine or exhaust.

Nope, throttle on my car feels the same with stock intake, no intake, and my Dinan intake. And the filter doesn't change the sound, the design of the intake does.

I have a K&N and while the biggest difference is the sound, it does feel a little peppier. It's probably the heat shield mostly, though: in Houston summers, I need all the help I can get to keep intake air cool.

Well, our stock intakes are cold air intakes, so obviously they do something...

Lol my friend had a k and n air filter and swore it was giving him 10-15 hp. Two years later his whole intake manifold had to be taken apart because he was spraying oil on the filter and now his car is sitting in a garage.

"Kicks in" at three hundred RPMs. That's all you need to know.

Heres a dyno for the BMW Performance intake vs. BMW stock intake. Proof that it does a lil something. Not much but something, about 6hp gain depending on how well your stock engine is running. So all that dont think so, heres documentation to put all of these "does a cold air intake work" threads to rest. Atleast the BMW one shows some gains dont know about the others....
