In case anyone is looking at the DPE's on Craigslist for $650 in NoVa.. The wheels are a lot more damaged than he describes. 1/4 of the outer lip is completelty gone. Not rashed, but gone. As in, its missing metal.

Still thinking about them if I can haggle it down.. Thoughts?

Which model is it. If its any of the R series. Leave em alone. They're welded 2pc.

Not sure, It isn't listed.

They look like S7's, but he said they're once piece. So maybe, hopefully not, the face is welded to the barrel?
I may drive up there with cash in hand just to see them in person before deciding whether or not I buy them.
Do you think that "rash" is even repairable?

Edit: They're R07's Variant S --
Now, these have the holes for bolts/rivets.. but they aren't there and I'm finding it hard to find the R07's with boltless holes but rather either completely boltless (smooth) or bolted with rivets..
Either way, you still think stay away?

If you cannot break them apart I would stay away from them. Unless you get them for a STEAL, filing that rash out would be DOABLE, but it will still be noticable up close.

Word. Thats kind of what I figured, if I could get them for a steal go for it, otherwise pass. He said he has someone else looking today, I told him to let me know what they offer and i'll decide if I want to pay more or not. I figure a steal would be around 450, 500 would be tops for me with that damage.

Elsewise, I'm on the hunt for E38 MPars, 18x8/9.5 forged wheels. Sounds perfect. Polish lip with brushed silver centers.

MPar's are pretty easy to find:

Yeah, I think they look pretty clean with the right finish, drop and tires. Maybe trade my Style 5's for them and ask for 5-600 cash on top?

Yeah I found the post. Thought they were an older one but wasn't sure R series are welded 2pc with fake bolts. You literally have to melt the weld or cut it to swap barrels.
What is good about it tho is if you cut it and clean it up you can rebuild them to traditional 2 or 3pc. Standard 40 hole faces. But not worth it IMO.

Yeah. 4 barrels and 4 lips. Or just 4 2pc barrels in the specs you want. 40 hole pieces seem to be the easiest to get.

Trade your 5s for mpars? Why not keep the 5s and buy mpars? They are pretty cheap to acquire.
