CQB VS m203 launcher

I find myself only using my Wilson CQB as a .22 host on range days with the nighthawk .22 kit. I basically don't carry it any more at work since the new nighthawk has arrived... Although it makes a KILLER .22 suppressor host.

I sold my last one for $2650 and it had ALOT of rounds down it, this ones practically new so I believe I can get the same.

It put's me in the range for a non colt (LMT, KAC...ect) m203 launcher. I've been talking about it for some time and I think it will make a nice addition to my m16.

I've found two, that I like. Both are the shorter 9 inch barreled models for the commando's so I'd be stuck running a 11.5 barrel for looks. If I can find a longer barrel I can run a 14.5 or revert back to your classic scar face setup....

Ditch the pistol? If so what barrel length?

are you buying the 40 mike mikes for it?....after all it is a $200 dollar tax stamp for each grenade, its another $200 for the AOW on the real deal m203. that's a lot of scratch in my opinion just to get the "looks" but if your using it and willing to pay that much for a bit of boom its all you....I would personally ditch the pistol and have a builder build me a m40a1 for long range shooting (my next purchase) http://www.texasbrigadearmory.com/m40a1.htm

Imo its all personal preference.

Mostly used with blue tipped chalk rounds, although I may buy some HE. It's a DD btw, not a AOW that transfers for $5.

It's going on a transferable colt m16 so it's mostly a investment.

There's all sorts of non NFA ammo for them.

Well, what kind of mount are you using? Picatinny/rail or the standard barrel mount?

I'm kinda torn there to. It will be used mostly on KAC RAS rails both rifle and carbine length so a rail mount would be ideal for quick swaps. Plus this leaves me open for any future rails that may come out.

But I would like the option of going old school.

Extra barrels are about $400 and the difference between the rail/traditional mounted units is just $200.

Traditional mount limits the barrel lengths and contour, so I would go for the rail mount.

The m16 is going to be shipped to work in the morning so I really have to decide.

Right now I'm stuck on what 1911 to get rid of. I love the nighthawk GRP but the Wilson CQB is a slightly better pistol fit and finish wise. I put the CQB up for sale at a good price so It will probably sell. Both are extremely accurate, the test target for the CQB is one hole at 15 yards. I can take shot gun shells off the 25 yard berm almost every time with either pistol. The CQB should be the obvious choice

Nighthawk:
P: It's a nighthawk
Tighter than the Wilson
Amazing accuracy
Love the factory grips
C: Slide cycles rougher than the CQB
Sets bullets back, have to replace top round once a week
Finish prone to wear/chips, After a month of EDC it has considerable holster wear

CQB:
P: It's a Wilson
Cycles smooth as could be
Does not set bullets back, I can reuse the same top round for weeks on end
Finish is more durable than the nighthawks
Shoots smoother, less felt recoil than the nighthawk
Better trigger pull
After 2 months or so It has no holster wear
C: Slightly looser than the nighthawk (still very tight)
Not to crazy about the two tone finish
Not crazy about the grips

M203:
P: Who else has a 40MM?
Lot's of reloadable ammo/roll your own specialty rounds
Cheap to shoot
C: Impractical for real world civilian use
Not a good return on investment
HE rounds = $$$$$$$$$$$$

I really want to keep both..... But no m203 if I do....

You will probably never find a place you can use it. The cost is kind of a waste....granted, I thought about it and got a Spike's Tactical 37mm one that shoots flares, fireworks, smoke grenades and many other things. I eventually took it off and said it had no use. Would still like to try some smoke or chalk grenades from it at least a few times though.

Try one of the Spikes ones before you even think about getting a M203. Just my opinion.

http://www.americanspecialtyammo.com/37_mm.html

There is a PITA HAZMAT fee even with the 37mm rounds. Actually a 12 GA conversion round for it also, but would have to be registered as a DD. I am sure you know more about that than me. I would not fire it on the 4th of July with the 37mm firework rounds or you might have local issues either..might be interesting.

Here was my fat pig with a picture just for fun:

My personal opinion only though.

I don't have much love for the spikes, we sell ammo and had launchers at work but they are nothing like a m203.

I'll probably mostly use it with the 40mm cannon round and the .45 acp unit.

http://reloadableshells.com/40MM-Can...d-20122012.htm
http://reloadableshells.com/40MM-45-...zes-403137.htm

The military nylon shell casings can be had for CHEAP along with zink pushers and blue wind screens. Probably load one up with a plastic pusher and rubber buck shot.

Right now I think I'm going to keep the Wilson and sell the nighthawk. Nighthawks are wonderful but it's not in the same class as the Wilson.

This is the one I'm thinking about.
