If they have to pay such ridiculous taxes why don't they just stop paying them? They can't send them all to jail...

The government has announced jail time to 'tax evaders', even if they can't accomodate any of them. However, since 85% of Greeks are home owners, the first thing they re going to do is to confiscate their property. When this day comes, the day that someone will knock on your door to tell you to get out of your o-w-n (paid off or inherited home), things will get real ugly.

So far though and after 4 years of overtaxing, a large % of people have seized payments, as they ve run out of cash. Tax budget for 2013 has already fallen back by more than 1 billion euro (# may seem small, but so is the country of not even 11 million), which is money that they ll never collect.

Just imagine the fact that at the present time, only 7% of Greek companies are up-to-date on all their financial liabilities (wages, bank loans and all types of 'crazy' Greek tax bills).

Real sharp looking A6 btw !!!!

GTFO, I can't take you seriously if you are putting me in the same realm as Chase. Yeah Chase and I have similar fiscal and personal responsbility views, but that's probably about it.

All in all so far:

50 billion are overdue to the greek IRS,
70 billion are overdue to the banks,
20 billion are overdue to pension funds

and those numbers just keep rising...

Here's a couple of other yearly taxes, I forgot to write about in my previous posts (prepare for more lols):

- 'Support' tax to the government / country, from EVERYONE making over 12K / yr. Yeah, since 12K is considered serious cash to our politicians (you can hardly live on your own with this type of income), let's give them another ...tip. This is calculated on a scale. From 12,001 to 20,000 it's 1% of your income. From 20,001 to 50,000 it's 2%, from 50,001 to 100,000 it's 3% and anything over 100K you pay 4%. It's the 2nd year since they ve activated this tax.

- 'Extra' business owners / Corporations tax, regardless if they re making a profit or a loss. Who the hell cares, let's tax those bastards. Also, since they re super nice and so considerate, they ve made this one easier to calculate. Business owners pay a flat fee of 500, for corporations it's 'only' 1,000. It's the 3rd year, since they ve activated this tax. It goes without saying of course that these taxes are in addition to your standard 'income tax' that you pay and been thoroughly explained in my previous posts.

Goodbye -junk- Greece.

Abandoned BMW X3 3.0L in Xalandri, Greece with broken rear passenger window.

Aside the 30%+ unemployment, the Greek government taxes cars each year (yearly registration), according to their engine displacement. The bigger the engine, the richer you are (so the greek government thinks) and since 3.000 cc is considered a 'big' engine in Greece, you sir shall pay a little over 3.000 (~US$4,000), just to keep your plates for the year.

This is another sickening way to bring in cash to the register, in order to AVOID cuts in government spending, or lay offs. Since these same public servants vote for our corrupt government over and over again to keep them in power, in turn, they protects their voters.

Only difference is, that in this and in thousands of other cases, they didn't get a single penny. Cars are collecting dust and rust all over bankrupt Greece. The working class - or whatever is left of it - can NO LONGER support the enormous Greek public sector, its bureaucracy, its low quality of service and its thousands of useless agencies, employing lazy workers.

Now, to balance the scale, I'd like to talk about some things that bring us together, things that point out our similarities instead of our differences. 'Cause that's all you ever hear about in this country. It's our differences. That's all the media and the politicians are ever talking about--the things that separate us, things that make us different from one another. That's the way the ruling class operates in any society. They try to divide the rest of the people. They keep the lower and the middle classes fighting with each other so that they, the rich, can run off with all the ****ing money! Fairly simple thing. Happens to work. You know? Anything different--that's what they're gonna talk about--race, religion, ethnic and national background, jobs, income, education, social status, sexuality, anything they can do to keep us fighting with each other, so that they can keep going to the bank! You know how I define the economic and social classes in this country? The upper class keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there just to scare the **** out of the middle class. Keep 'em showing up at those jobs.

Greece's illusive wealth over the last 39 years was based on socialism.

The country doesn't produce anything but agriculture, tourists and ...services. Yet, they managed to buy more Porsches per head of the population than in NY, London or Germany. Yeah, it's nice to live a good life on other people's money.
