HeadLights turned off while they were switched on

I am stopped at a light I have auto lights and all of a sudden headlights went out and I believe also fogs went out . I was thinking it had to do with auto lights and switched to the on position and they were still off .

What should I check for? Lights are OEM halogens.

that doesnt' sound right. if you have halogens, then you wouldn't have the auto function at all. unless you installed halogens after (or PO did it)

Not true. My car came with auto lights and halogen. As did my friends 325ci.

OP, are any lights working? As always check fuses.

weird, all the cars that i've come across with that had halogens don't have auto mode. the ones that did, and had halogens, they originally had xenons, and (either dealer or PO) had put halogens headlights prior to being sold. when you get it read by a scanner (GT1, bmw scanner), it tells you.

Lights are working now but I am not going crazy they shut off and also the fogs while in auto mode, yes it was an option on my car. Unable to duplicate issue this evening.

Just odd that headlight and fog went out at same time I would think they both have separate relays, so maybe my switch going bad? And ideas?

yes the fogs are on a separate relay; however, both are signaled/powered by the LCM. your LCM could be going bad, or you have some wiring problem that you need to fix. i would go through and unplug and clean all the connections. personally, i would unplug the fogs (tape them out to prevent moisture from getting in), then clean the lows and stuff and drive around for awhile. you won't get any warnings as there is no warning system for the fogs. see if we can isolate the problem to either the lows or the fogs.

I have a list of my options and rain sensor and auto headlights are an Option don't see anything saying xenon s so halogens are OEM I assume.

It was around 7 pm When it was getting dark in auto mode and head lights were on, when they went out first thing I did was switch to manual on and they were still out, also green light indicating fogs were on but fogs were not.

I shut car off and restarted and lights worked. Haven't been able too duplicate issue this evening.

Was just thinking last week I had no issues with my lights until this evening. Its dark had light switch in auto both fogs lights and headlights went out, turned to off then on parking lights worked but could not get headlights and fogs to go on. Even had green light showing me fogs on.

Shut car off then on and then lights worked for now.

Any suggestions? I have non hids lights OE .
