So far all is good. I ditched the Kudos maps for IGo Primo 2.4 which is much better.

About to pull the trigger...

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum, having just purchased a 2000 328Ci. I've been following the thread and picking up on all the vernacular as best I can. I've reread every post a couple of times...I hope those of you with more experience will forgive my ignorance--it's difficult to filter through all of it to be certain you're getting the required equipment.

I've included a picture of my setup. I have the OEM Navigation unit with HK. There was a post awhile back that said that you *can't* install with this setup, but then a later post which said you can, as long as you have a 17pin or 40pin adapter. I think I also need an antenna adapter.

If I'm not mistaken, the only things I need to purchase to install are these:
  1. BMW Wired Cable 17 Pin 5 Meters Extension
  2. An antenna adapter cable, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...X31MTAV6E4VEQX
+ a Backup camera if I want one.

Can someone who had the OEM Navigation confirm this is correct?

Thanks!_nr_

So, does everybody that orders the 5150 now get the new V2 canbus with updated wiring harness?

I can confirm that you are getting the V2 canbus if you order from 88hk on eBay. Ordered a second 5150 from them and it has the V2 canbus. Seems like every problem is solved.

As for the rearview camera, they now added an orange wire to the wiring harness that goes into the back of the unit. This needs to be connected to the reverse light 12v feed.
I will try this tomorrow..

The antenna adapter is supplied so you don't have to order one. If that cable you are talking about converts the OEM nav plug into the BMW 17 pin plug then it should work.

You can get them on Amazon or eBay. I found eBay was cheaper.

8 Pin Mini Din iPod cable with 90 degree plugs on both ends.
http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CCD-103-1...=I7X6OBUQXX95H

You will need a 8 Pin Mini Din Coupler also.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/370868321736...84.m1438.l2649

90 degree antenna adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-44-EC6R-...=IECTHSWWL8KCG

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290963890140

More flexible antenna cable.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300928242681...84.m1438.l2649

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251294150712...84.m1438.l2649

Antenna cable that came with the Eonon 5150
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300889101259...84.m1438.l2649

GPS Antenna that came with the Eonon 5150
http://www.ebay.com/itm/150841348899...84.m1438.l2649

So far the only 90 degree iPod cable I've found only turns to the left (drivers side). It is real close to the antenna cable. You can trim some of the ribs off the cable to make more room for the antenna plug, which should work good with the more flexible straight antenna cable.

I'm still waiting for my Can Bus V2 to get here before I take my 5150 out to try these cables.

Can anyone recommend a good place to download this? Curious if one link is better than others, looks like a lot of spam when I search.

Also, I have the v2 can bus when ordering on eBay from hk88. So far everything works, except the damn radio reception lol. Dimming, steering wheel buttons work well. Fast shipping too
