Excellent work Dave! So you saying that 90 degree antenna adapter makes it a tighter fit?

A few of use are experimenting with different 90 degree cables. I found a 90 degree iPod cable but it turns to the left, towards the antenna. I'm waiting on my new Can Bus V2 to arrive then I will try them. See Below:

Ok so after spending all day yesterday installing the 5150 it still doesn't fit flush with the dash. I removed both the antenna plug and the iPod plug and it fits flush. Put the antenna plug back in and you can feel it hitting just before the 5150 sits flush. I can push the 5150 in and screw it down but it pushes the left side out. So the solution is you need two angled plugs. The antenna one is easy but the iPod one does not exist. The Kenwood plug posted earlier isn't the correct plug unfortunately. I do believe its a 13 Pin connector and you need a 8 Pin Mini Din or a CCD Speaker Cable, (CD Control Cable). Here is what I found after an of hour of research. Three cables needed- Cost $25

"Click on items in Bold for links"

Here is the 8-PIN DIN iPod Cable-$15 comes with the 5150 for the iPod.

You will need a angled 8 pin plug (which is only available in female to female) and a coupler ( so you can connect the iPod cable to the female angled plug). See Below:

8 Pin Mini Din - Hosa CCD-103 - 3 Feet -$10 (Angled on both ends)

Mini Din 8 pin Female to Female Gender Changer Adaptor 4"-$7

Thanks all!
I would like to connect an amplifier imediatly. Not sure how many channels I need

I want to have a composet at the front
I want to have a subwoofer in the trunk

I see each channel has Two rca outputs (red, white)
So does that mean I need a 6 channel amplifier?

thanks

Agreed the kudos maps are very slow for Europe. Is it easy to download IGO Primo.

Can it be downloaded onto the original GPS card

Is it easy to download from the site. E.t.c

It is tighter only because I had a VERY flat 90 degree adapter. The ideal solution would be a fakra to 90 degree DIN cable which would give the most clearance. There are some relatively inexpensive Fakra to DIN cable adapters on ebay that have straight connectors. If we can find a source for 90 degree DIN antenna connectors, we could cut the straight connector and solder the 90 degree connector to the cable.

I had the opportunity to further test reception this morning and can confirm an improvement. It seems that the Eonon supplied adapter with amplifier circuit does cause a bit of signal loss in later cars with the factory antenna amplifier. For anyone that isn't aware, you shouldn't connect the blue antenna power if your car has the factory antenna amplifier since the signal becomes over-saturated and you get only static.

Thanks for the info. That cable would of been perfect if only a 8 Pin!

That's not the same 8 Pin connector, plus it also turns to the left like the one I posted.

This is the correct plug:

Just ordered a Eonon D5150! (New version of Eonon D5113/Enco B146)

I am about to order this unit, and I was wondering if I have to purchase a ac relocation kit or is there a way around it?

I bought a uses one on eBay and it turned out to be scratched up, especially on the door latch which could be replaced with your current latch. I can let it go what I paid for it, $30 plus $15 shipping

Yes it's a major improvement over the Business HU. I would buy it without the maps. I had problems with Kudos and replaced it with Igo Primo 2.4 and its way better.

Don't know if you fixed your reception or not, but since we both have older model year setups (2001), heres what I did with mine. It might help you or others with older models. I now get very good reception.

The Eonon supplied antenna doesn't work for our 1999 to 2001 year cars, but only for the later year models from 2002 to 2006. I got zero reception with just the Eonon antenna. Our earlier models have two antenna plugs, one small which fits the Eonon adapter and looks like it would work, but really doesn't. (From what I read on another forum, I think it sends a signal back to the diversity antenna amplifier in the rear of the car) We have a second larger flat plug that went to the original business radio, and this is where our antenna reception comes from. We just need a simple antenna adapter for the flat plug to adapt it to the motorola style plug that goes into the Eonon unit. Once I did this, I got good reception. While I did end up leaving the Eonon supplied antenna attached to the second small plug just for the heck of it, I tried the radio both with and without using it, and it didn't seem to make any difference whether it was attached or not.

A couple different companies make them and both are roughly $5. Metra # 40-VW12. Scosche # VWAB, Below are some attachments showing the flat plug and adapter. Again, I believe this is only for cars earlier than 2002.

This also helps solve the sitting flush problem on our LHD cars that some people have had with the Eonon units. It had just enough clearance to sit flush. However if I turned the trim panel screws in as tight as they would go, this barely put pressure on the antenna plug which gave me some interference for some reason. So I left it backed off about a turn and a half, the interference went away and I had a clear signal, with the unit sitting flush. Hope this is of some help.

Hey another question, do you need to purchase anything else for the install such as a antenna adapter? Or will it come with all the stuff I will need?
Also will the iPod cable that comes with it reach all the way to my euro tray?

I would definitely purchased the antenna adapter and the two iPod cables listed in this thread. It made the install alot easier. With those two ipod cables it will reach NO problem.

Thanks for the confirmation of getting radio signals with the adapter. I am a bit hesitant about getting this if I could not use the radio.
