Rumsfeld: "Obama has not made the case"

lol wut

like he did for Iraq?

While I agree the President has not made the case, Rumsfeld, of all people to say such things, shouldn't be talking.

Quote:
Rumsfeld, architect of Iraq war, says Obama hasn't yet justified Syria attack

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who along with President George W. Bush helped send the United States military action in Iraq and Afghanistan, said in an interview Wednesday the White House has yet to justify potential strikes in Syria.
Quote:
"There really hasn't been any indication from the administration as to what our national interest is with respect to this particular situation," he said. "When you think about what's really important in that region - it's Iran's nuclear program and the relationship between Iran and Syria, the Assad regime, with respect to terrorists that go around killing innocent men, women and children, including Americans."

The man is shameless.

FWIW, when he talked about "known unknowns and unknown unknowns", while it sounded funny, it was a good point. When he said "you fight the war with the army you have, not the army you want" in response to a question about better armor protection for the soldiers, he sounded like a douche.

For better or worse, the guy has been in the chair, reading the tea leaves and making the decisions.

If he raises his hand, especially if he sounds like he's trying to warn people about not making the mistakes he made, it's likely worth a listen. Taken in the correct context of course, but he shouldn't be dismissed.

So did I - until I discovered that I had been lied to.

and? My beef is how Rumsfeld "led" the war. I don't expect you to understand.

It, being the senate not conrgess, approved military action that was based on blatantly un-vetted intel that was subsequently proved to be false. Besides our military started full on air offensives before military action was approved by the senate anyhow. Congress hasn't formally declared war since the days after Pearl Harbor, you know ww2.

to add,

I encourage you to watch the documentary "No End in Sight"

Here's a link to a free online viewing of it.

http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/no-end-in-sight/

It's just over 1.5 hours so I hope you can find the time. I found it decent and insightful as to the decisions made at the highest levels of our government (or lack thereof)

By watching it I hope you can see how I view things a bit more.

Congress passed a resolution. There was never a declaration of war. Furthermore, they passed said resolution based on faulty information provided to them by the Bush administration. There is a reason why Rumsfeld "stepped down".

Donald Rumsfeld is a real piece of work.

Simple - just say that we're going after the nukes that were moved there when we invaded Iraq.
