Hey Dave,

My router is an outdoor one, so im sure a good thunder stome will fry it too lol.

I took a few cover off to see where that hose goes, it goes from the MAF to the rail over the injectors (image below). I taped it up for now with electrical tape and the car is running a bit smoother now, but will replace it soon.

I do have a few problems with the OBD2 adapter, it doesnt always connect. But when it does it works fine. Sometimes I have to restart the app on teh phone to get it to connect to the ECU. I havent actually unplugged it in a few days, just leave it sitting there, its great for when the misses says things like 'I know your speeding in that car' and you can show her your journey log lol. Altho I did open her up a bit this evening. Brought her up to 100mph, but with the bad bushings and front wheel needing balancing, it wasnt exactly a smooth ride.

I cant wait for my mech to take a look at it, he would be better at finding the cooling issue than I would. He told me that he recently hired a guy who is a whiz with BMW and Audi, and is going to put him on my car and see if he can sort out the cooling issue.

Re: 318 Owners - Get In Here!!!

Oops!

Not sure it I just didn't tighten it enough or its a result of a knock test. Test requires full throttle. ... dont think my car is quite ready for punishment like that yet lol.

It didn't get into the garage today. Going up with it on Wednesday morning to go over the list and make a plan.

Got the car into the garrage today.

The mech had a good look at it to see what could be causing the overheating.
He found that air was getting in at the therostat. New thermo going on her on Friday when I bring it back it.
Got a new front passenger tire while it was in there, so that sorts out my bubbled tire and a lot less shaky on the motorway

Altho in saying the thermo is leaking, he said it might not be the only cause of the overheathing, he reckons the head might be on the way out too, and could be a factor in the overheating.

Well, car going back into garage in the morning to get a new thermo fitted. Need to get the front drivers side wheel balanced while it's in.

Happy! Happy! Happy!

Today I am a very happy camper!!

Got my car back from mech and it no longer overheats

Drove it about 30 miles on the motorway (at speeds I wont say out loud ) and about 10 miles on country roads and the needle is sitting happy at the half way mark.

She is running at between 90c and 105c, thermo opens and brings her back down to 90c!

Feckin over the moon here!!!

I didn't have any spare cash to get a new thermo so removed the thermostat from the housing. Not seeing any changes I sort of ruled out that the thermostat was the problem. I was pretty wrong about that. It was letting air in.

But im happy now. I have the bits in the cooling system sorted because of it.. new expansion tank, radiator sealed, new water pump and belt.

The way i see it is if I found the source of the issue earlier I may not have done the things above. . So im kinda happy i didn't change the thermostat until now.
