I'm on the verge of buying a Tumi nylon bag. I need more space than my leather briefcase offers and I think a bag large enough is going to murder my shoulders (I can't really carry bags with my left arm due to shoulder issues.)

Anybody get the new AE catalogue? They have a boot very much like the NST from Alden. At $395 with a 15% off coupon, I think I might get back into dress boots. Should be a good option as I'll be traveling to Minneapolis weekly for the foreseeable future.

Indy boots have their place.

That said, I feel you on them being clunky.

I've gotten rid of most of my shoes. Going to have brown/black cap toes, two pair of loafers, long wings (all current collection,) and maybe 1-2 new pair more but that's it.

Thanks for the input guys! I started work yesterday and have a bag I can use until I get a better feel for what I need in terms of size/formality.

BTW, about to buy a pair of Allen Edmonds Park Ave's. I know everyone says to never buy them at full retail ($345) but can't seem to find them any cheaper. Any advice?

The Portland boot. I think it looks fantastic. There's a great MTO option through StyleForum and the Portland would look great in cordovan (looks great in regular, too).

I'm not crazy with the new shoes they are coming out with, the only one that caught my eye was the bellevue chukka, and even that is meh. however the NST is a nice color and is definitely a bargain to Alden.

Are you saying that you will be/are in the market for longwings? I am as well. The one Alden dealer in RI is 10 min from my house and is expecting a shipment of cigar shell longwings at some point this month. Let me know if you are interested

I think the only shoe I would buy slightly used is the Evanston in walnut, lightly lightly used (this is probably near impossible to find.)

idk... i can deal with cleaning the inside of the shoe properly, as well as getting the leather to my expectations. What I have a hard time dealing with is the crease marks from someone elses foot. Its probably that your foot bends in a different spot, and idk.. i like breaking my own shoes in.

I guess if you get them for cheap, the $120 to send them to AE would be worth it. Since they re-last the upper, I guess that would bring the shoe back to "almost new" quality. But at that point, you are probably nearing $300 in both cost of the shoe and recrafting
