My first ragtop came from a little old lady, a 94 E36 325. She had the hard top on in the winter and only drove it on dry days in the summer, she said the soft top probably only came out 20 times in her 14-15 years of ownership. Top was nearly flawless. The plastic window in the E36 was a different story though. So, with that said, I do nothing special, just make sure you don't leak in there, and always put it away dry. You might check it once or twice mid winter after hard rain just to make sure all of the drains are draining properly and your soft top is not sitting in a puddle. Clean and dry, that's it.

My hardtop goes on roughly in October and comes back off in April. I will pop it off a few times when we get that occasional surprise day.

Thanks mynewrag....great tips!! I also bought my car from an older couple who gently drove it and kept it garaged. I've been getting remarks about how new it looks for a 10 yr old car. Better than that, it drives and feels if it was new.... I feel very fortunate to have found this gem and join the bimmer community! :-)

Sounds like my 2004 325Cic. 60 yr old lady had it for 8 years, had bmw maintain it for 66k miles. Spotless and well maintained in a garage. She turned it in for an "upgrade" - a 2012 Honda CRV! ;-)

Same here petemo94... the old guy didn't touch this car. He always had the maintenance done by a BMW dealership. Unlike him, I'll be doing as much as I can instead of going to the stealership...but I won't be using cheap substitutes. There's a lot of good pointers here in the forums. Thanks to all who contribute!!

Re: *** The Official E46 Convertible Pics Thread***

Quick question guys.... my car has stagered 17" wheels with the ///M logo on them. Was that part of a package for this model? No, it isn't an M3. It does have the premium package, the sport package, navigation and steptronic tranny. Also, everywhere I've read, the stereo gets slammed for being awful. I'm here to tell you, mine sounds incredibly clear and loud! The old guy bought it used but the previous owner didn't have it long... I'm wondering if the speakers may have been replaced as well. Anyone else have a stock system that rocks? Btw, I used to install hifi systems back in the day and do have a discerning ear.

ZHP wheels and a few other wheels have the M logo. Doesn't mean M wheel, but likely a part of some package.
Post pics we can tell you what they are.

Also, when I was shopping for a vert bimmer this was the only one I came across with staggered wheels. Would that be consistent with a certain package? Thanks Snik!

Yeah. They're 330 wheels. But I learns right here on this forum that they were offered as optional wheel on the M3. Bit in wider sizes. But M3 option nonetheless.
So while we typically see em on 330s they're very much M wheels. Can't remember what style they are but rare as hell on a M3 me thinks.

That's it Snik! My rears are 8.5x17 and fronts are 7.5x17. The other cars I pondered to buy had matching wheels..great for rotating tho. Not sure how long my tires will last not being able to rotate!

Nice car. BTW, the ZHP (performance) package has staggered wheels standard. Maybe this was a "sport" package of some sort. You may/may not know this, but staggered setup promotes understeer, which "helps" handling. But yup, you can't rotate them. For those who don't need that kind of "help", switching to squared eliminates that and gives you at least front to rear rotation which is something, but not much.

Honestly, I'd rather drive with more oversteer...loose for us southerners!!! But it sure does look cool tho! Thanks for the info Johnrando!! :-)
