'Geek's 2005 Alpine White 330i Progress Thread

Hello everyone. I've been lurking here in these forums for a few weeks now. I just bought a 2005 E46 330i with a Premium & Sport package for 10K. I purchased the car from the original owner (older gentleman). He bought the car brand new for his wife who daily drove the car up until they purchased a brand new 328i 3 months ago. They maintained the car meticulously during their ownership. He provided me with all the maintenance records. The car is in excellent shape mechanically and aesthetically (minus the original kidney grilles breaking off and the missing fog light cover bezel). Interior is mint as well. The car had 100K miles and was always garaged in their beautiful home. What's funny is that when I went over to his house to look at the car and test drive it, the car was in the garage under a car cover while the new car sat outside.

Enough with the talk, here's some pictures of when I brought it home for the first time:

As you can see he had the grilles tie wrapped together so they wouldn't fly off and the fog light bezel was missing. He said they broke just a few months back but he was getting rid of the car so he didn't see a need to purchase a new set, which I didn't mind at all because I had plans for the car.

My goal for this car was to change the look of the car in a subtle way but not change the body lines or the classic look of the car. I'm not into the amber lights on white cars look. I like the "clear" lights look especially on white cars, therefore I purchased quite a few items the first week I owned the car; clear corners, clear sidemarkers, red/clear/red (RCR) rear lights, black grills, replaced the headlight covers, and a rear trunk lip. I also live in the San Fernando Valley area which gets really hot in the summer, so I need tint, especially when I drive this car with my kids in the back. I got 35% Leumar tint front and rear. I wanted a classy look and at the same time, try and reduce the chance of cops pulling me over.

Here's how the car currently sits: (The lighting sucked when I took these pics so I apologize for the washed out images. I'll have to do a real photoshoot when I finish the other upgrades I have planned.)

As for future modification plans, I will be upgrading the headlights to FXR projectors. As you all know, most of the later E46's have the ZKW headlights where the projectors brown out. Well the light output of mine at night is horrible so I'm biting the bullet and purchasing FXR 3.0 projectors and having Lightwerkz install them for me. There's at least a 2 week wait time but at least I put down my deposit so I'm in line to get this mod done soon. I also purchased a set of brake ducts that fit underneath the foglight area. I purchased them from EAS and it should be here in a few weeks. I'll take pics of the car with the ducts on after I get them painted. I'd also like to get ZHP wheels if I find a deal I can't pass up. Other than that, any future funding for the car will be placed on maintenance and gas so I can enjoy the car. I want to keep this car "stock" as I already love the way it drives. So smooth, yet it definitely has a sporty feel. I will not modify the performance of this car. I have a "race" car in my garage that I use for weekend canyon runs and modify on the side for fun.

Thanks for looking!

I just picked up a 2001 Alpine white Mtech 1 package myself! It has the cleanest look imo. Are those OEM tails or Depo? I'm also in the San Fernando valley too! Congrats on your pick up!
