Wiring my radar detecter

A long time ago a shop installed a switch for some after market angel eyes so that when I wanted to switch them on and off from the car I could. I thought since there's a switch near my radar, I would wire the radars wire to the switch and just tap in and use the switch for the radar.
The wires on the radar are red for positive and white for negative and I got nothing. So I tested the switch and there was no power... Does anyone have a clue? I tested the radar and it came right on..

Re: Wiring my radar detecter

Just put it into a wire that's only hot when ignition is on.
