Transmission does not shift

Hi guys I had a quick question and I am sorry if this is not the correct spot, please let me know if I need to go to another board.

I have a 2004 330 CI with about 52k miles. Sometimes when I accelerate fast the car seems to not shift to the next gear, the RPM's just stay really high. This is not exclusive to just accelerating though, lets say i am going down a hill and the car downshifts, it is almost like it downshifts too early and the next gear is maxed on RPM's. I have not really found a way to fix it except I can put it in sport mode and downshift or upshift depending on which the car is not doing. I have also found that if i leave it, the car does eventually change on its own much farther down the road after it happens.

I have taken it to the dealership many times and they say that there are no codes to go off and they have installed the newest "firmware" I think is what they called it for the transmission.

I was wondering if anyone here has a idea on this or can point me in the right direction.

Thank you again.

Re: Transmission does not shift

Hi there. I have similar problems with my 318i e46 AT. Shifting is delayed so I go into steptronic to adjust. I also have a problem with my front wheel speed sensor. my mechanic told me that the problem with shifting gears might be with that sensor. Already ordered the part and now awaiting to fix it. Will let you know what happens. What did you do with yours?
