That was the original plan, but that's not what happened.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...on-gun-trusts/

Quote:
The ATF has just released a document detailing their plans to change the NFA requirements for gun trusts. We had been told that the ATF was open to the idea of eliminating the CLEO sign-off completely, but that’s apparently changed and they’re going in the opposite direction. From Page 12 of the document:

ATF does not propose to eliminate the CLEO certification at this time. Rather, ATF proposes extending the CLEO certificate requirement to responsible persons of a legal entity.

In short, they want to require every single person listed on an NFA gun trust to submit fingerprints, photographs and get a CLEO’s sign-off. Not just for the principal trustee, everyone on the trust (anyone who can posess the items owned by the trust). This is above and beyond what we’d been led to believe was going to happen and will have a disastrous impact on the ability of law abiding citizens to obtain legal firearms. Instead, many will be denied based on the whims of local law enforcement. Stay tuned.

Goldman is keeping active too.

Quote:
What if my CLEO will not sign the new requirement because they have no way of knowing that the fingerprints are mine or that the photograph was taken within 1 year?
What if I get married and my CLEO will not allow my spouse to be added?
What if an elderly but competent parent moves into my house and needs to be added to protect from constructive possession and the CLEO will not sign?
What if my son is under age now but when he turn 21, I want to add him on my trust. The CLEO will not sign for him even though they are not a prohibited person and would pass all other requirements?
What if I add a friend to my trust as a responsible party so that we can go shooting together and am unable to get a CLEO for my friend within the 30 days as required?
What if my spouse is the military and deployed overseas when I want to make a purchase and a CLEO cannot be obtained?
What if a really large family that is located across several counties and states. Some CLEOs will sign but others will not. We keep the items on a family property where they are legal to own. Besides the cost of obtaining 10-20 CLEO signatures and fingerprints, how do we deal with the fact that some CLEOs will sign and others will not?
What if a Responsible Party is in a coma or otherwise physically incapacitated for an unknown time period when I want to make a purchase? Are they considered a responsible party and must I obtain a CLEO for them?
What if I have several Responsible persons who can obtain CLEO signatures but others who cannot.
What if my spouse or other co-trustee lives in a state where the items are not legal but will only be using them in states where they are legal and as such the CLEO will not sign because they are not legal in the state where the CLEO is sought?

So if your CLEO refuses to sign, you are screwed.
You can get a judge, da, or sheriff sign... theres way more than one person in a county.

If none will sign, your screwed....

New promotion from AAC. If anyone has been thinking about buying a can, now might be a good time to do it. You could get some other AAC goodies, like a mount, piston, shirts, stickers, etc. I think I'll be seriously looking at an M4-2000 in the next few weeks.

Why not just get it from silencer shop? Their prices on average are 200-300 lower than MSRP. M4-2000 seems like a winner. Too bad I have a surefire brake, so I'm a bit limited. Going to go with a 7.62 mini.

I probably could buy from silencer shop; the promotion doesn't state it has to be bought direct from AAC. I'll probably end up buying from GG if they give me an awesome price, which they normally always do. Then you just have to fill out the coupon form thing and submit proof of purchase.

I didn't read the stipulations. In that case, it would be a no-brainer then.

Received the stamp yesterday, so I'll go to the shop on Friday to pick her up.

Purchased 1/2
Form 3 Pending 1/14
Form 3 Approved 2/8
Check Cashed 2/28
Pending Date 4/17
Form 4 Approved 10/30

The Form 3 for my Octane was approved last week and my FFL received it. They used the eFile system on this one, and it is pending as of 11/1.

Also, got to shoot a 10.4" HK416 today. Definitely has way more recoil than my RR with the noveske upper.

I verified with the NFA branch on Friday that the eFile status of Submitted/In-Process is the same as the paper application of Pending. Why didn't they call it the same thing? I have no idea, but it's causing a lot of confusion. However, eFiling should have just cut three months off of the wait.

That's not a win, it's a slaughter.

Just checked nfatracker and approved forms were being submitted in May of last year. Which means I still have 6 months. Sweet Jesus...

Submitted on 8 March, they had my money same day. That alone looks like it can shave a month or two off the wait time for e-file.
