Open hole in M3 washer fluid reservoir bottle

So the other day when I took my headlight out to check it out, I noticed that there is an open hole in my washer fluid reservoir bottle. I can stick my finger in the hole and touch fluid. Is this normal? I would think it would be plugged with something and not open...

Also, when I went to fill it up, I poured fluid in to the filler neck for a bit then it started overflowing from below. I didnt' see any kind of full line or anything... :-\

Mine has that too -- I discovered it when filling the bottle and hearing the fluid leak back out. I removed the bumper to fix the problem and found that it's apparently designed that way.

Strange. I think there is something wrong with mine since I can fill it up then the light comes on shortly after to tell me that its low.

Mine has the exact same problem. It will leak to the point where after two washes, the windshield washer light is on. I have not taken the bumper off but I can tell there is a leak from the front of the reservoir, but its a fairly slow leak. If you have pictures with the bumper off it would be awesome. I am planning on replacing the tank this weekend if I can go pick up the part.

Take some pics of the new part if you get it and also of what you currently have there if you can. I'll do the same if I pull mine off first...

I picked up the new reservoir today from tischer (those guys rock btw). I only took pics of the front since i figured thats where most people had problems. I could not see any obvious holes, so I am thinking its a rub point? If somebody has seen the hole point out where it was.

I am going to swap it out this weekend.

Thanks
Matt

The hole in the top of mine is perfeclty circular and in the middle. It was either cut or meant to be there and definitely not rubbed...

Finally got this fixed and figured I should post. It was not the reservoir in the end, it was actually the pump that was leaking. The pump was leaking slowly and it was spraying onto the reservoir, making it a PITA to figure out where the leak was. Replacing the reservoir was pretty easy. Take off bumper, two screws, done.

I would highly suggest taking both pumps out and giving them a really good look before you change the reservoir. check the seams where the plastic was joined and in the plastic ridges near the bottom. Mine had a very small crack that was causing the leak. Pumps are cheap and easy to replace in comparison.

PS. Anybody want to buy a gently used windshield washer reservoir?

Hi, anyone knows how to remove the washer fluid container? The grommet's strainer fell in the container while I was trying to remove it, I can't fish it out, its all the way on the other side, so looks like I would have to remove the tank and dump it out. Thanks for the help in advance

As I'm sure you don't still have your unused reservoir, do you by chance still know the oem part number? Mine looks like yours (with the filler tube,) but all I'm finding through searches is another, with a cap, that they say will fit but is totally different (61667007970?? wrong). I also googled the part number on the side (61672695531) and there all I'm getting is a headlamp washing pump. Weird, I know! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
