which is best: pa soft 1.4.0. or ncs?

Hi all so, for all that have experienced both diagnostic equipment, which of the 2 is the best one; pa soft 1.4.0. Or ncs? I have a 2000 e46 ci convertible in the UK and my laptop runs with Windows 8. I need to get it diagnosed soon as I suspect some sensors are on the way out cos it'll sometimes completely power off without automatically restarting whilst driving. A couple of times it's done it on a roundabout which is clearly VERY dangerous. Cheers

Hello. I own an e46 1998 EU, and I want to activate US side lights, or park lights. I have removed my EU parklights and my signals turned on at about 50%, the ONLY problem is, when I turn on my Low Beam, my parklights (signals) turn off. This doesn't happen when I have my 5w parklights installed. How can I make my US parklights stay on with the low beam??? My LCM looks like below, and it's Coding Index 28. Also, I attached the PDF with the NCS Dummy file for my CI 28 LCM.

File Type: pdf LCM CI28.pdf (133.4 KB, 55 views)

Is there anyway to get the transmission temperature with this software? I can't find it for some reason.

Not sure, this is a Live Data feature.

PA Soft is known to display Live Data on only a few configurations of year and DME?

INPA will display the trans temp as I recall.

If it is for level checking, it is not too critical, warm enough you can barely keep your palm on the trans pan.

The reason they have a narrow window is anything over 120F is a scald/burn hazzard. Without a dipstick and having trans fluid running out, the temp cannot be too high otherwise someone can get burned.

Is there any way to restore all the settings back to default? (PA Soft)
Last night was reading some codes and in the middle of the process I received an error about hardware disconnecting. (Always get this error! ) Today, my ac was blowing hot air and the snowflake button wont stay lit. All of my AC settings were on cold but was coming out warm. AND my keys buttons don't work at all anymore but this had been an issue these past weeks.

So, how can I restore everything back to factory defaults and start fresh? Or, where can I adjust AC settings if possible?

I think they have a narrow window because the oil expands with higher temperatures

The narrow temperature window is a safety issue, nothing specific to the expansion, which it will, but not sure you would want to check transmission fluid that is 210F while it is pouring down your hand and arm.

So for all the automatic transmissions that have no dipstick, the temperature to check the level is usually between 100-120F, again, juts below the scald point to hopefully eliminate people from getting burned while checking the transmission fluid.

An with most fluid checking, you cannot control the "cold" temperature. It could be below freezing in some areas and for someone that lives in South Florida or South Texas cold could be 80F.

So to have the fluid check at 100-120F, then regardless of where you live and the current temperature the check can be performed at a consistent temperature and one that is safe to hopefully not cause burns.

I TIRED very hard to read this thread.

I have a PA1.4 and have used it a bit.

Does anyone know if I can flash my LCM to accept my newly installed 2004 LED tails? I have a 2002 with the proper LCM. Tails work fine now but pulse at start up and the other normal 02/LED issues.

Yes, get rid of the hot and cold checks for the tail lights and they will stop flickering.

Where in the Bay Area? If you're close enough to 94598, just stop by the house.

My PA Soft 1.4.0 scanner worked great the first couple of times I used. Today, I connected it to my car as usual, IGNITION POS2, then hooked up to the PC and couldn't make it to work

The YELLOW scanner's light lights up, but not the GREEN one. Also, I get this error screen (see pic): "BMW Scanner adapter is not plugged in" (when it actually is). BTW, never had to solder PIN 7 & 8, it worked without a hint before. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Does anyone know what to code to get the fob key to work when the car is running? Opening the trunk via remote key, for example, with engine running.

Question Some Q's

HI ALL,

I PM'd this to someone in the fest forums but he hasn't been on the site for a while so i don't know when he will reply, I though i would ask here too. If you good people can chip in and help me get these answered.

03 325Ci E46 Aus

1. I have memory seats and mirrors, but my switch does having the folding option, can I set the remote to fold the mirrors on lock and unfold on unlock? My windows already open/close via remote
Would it hurt anything if coded but mirrors are not folding mirrors?

2. Xenon + Angel lights, can I install these at all? I currently have normal lights that are adjustable up and down via scroll button

3. How would you adjust the speedo offset for 18" (I think factory) wheels, or would BMW have already done that?

4. I got a couple of errors that won't clear ATM oil sensor which I know about but

Shadow
05 [005] Side airbag, front left door, resistance too high –remains

My driver's door handle failed from the outside and had it fixed at an independent and now it has failed again, so I think it might be related to something they did?

5. Are daytime running lights just normal low or high beam lights? Not some special bulb or something special you have installed?

6. Can you make the car beep if there's a door open or if there is a warning like overheat etc?

7. What sort of info would driving and doing a live test reveal? Like what would you look for? And is that done under live testing in the DKE module?

8. What do you think about the factory BMW alarm? I had a viper remote start in another car that I really liked but the asking price to install it into a BMW is 3-4 times more then what the alarm costs. Do you think screw the remote start and the OEM is good enough?

THANK YOU ALL

I have had my unit for a few months now and I've coded a few things. I got a SES light tonight and my PA soft won't read the DME or the second module (I forget what it is). Did anyone figure out a fix to this?

you may need to get inpa ncs expert ediabas to solve your problems.

in response to the guy before that, in order to code xenon lights (angel eyes don't need to be coded) pa soft should be able to do it. If it doesn't, you might need ncs expert in order to update the zcs so that it recognizes you have HIDs, which generally run at 35 watts instead of 55 like halogens.

no point in adjusting speedo to offset increase in rim size. here in the US, on stock rims, I believe my speedo is 5 mph higher than actual speed, and theyre 17"' stock rims. when I had 19s, it was about 2 mph above actual speed.

so you're saying your outside rear mirrors currently fold in electronically? do you have the button that allows you to do so? if you do, then programming them to fold in and out with remote can be done using pa soft.``'+`

I tried messing with those settings but did not notice a difference with a variety of combinations. It wasn't until I flashed the zcs vehicle order to turn it into a European car that the eu Drl settings make a difference
