Thanks, remap was done by local guy in Estonia. He downloaded stock DME software from my car, modded it and then loaded back to car.

We were getting a lot of heat soak (I need to make a shield for my intake pipe). I suspect if we had let the car cool we would have seen higher peak numbers, but I don't really care about the absolute numbers.

Peaks of 230whp / 228 wtq

Mods:
M54B30, 0.030" over, ZHP cams, running Megasquirt and E85 (flex-fuel)
Technik V3 headers into Burns megaphone collector to 3" pipe, two mufflers and a dump before the diff
Decked head
Mild head port blending
M50 throttle body bored to 68mm
Long-tube 3.5" intake, filter in driver's brake duct

There is probably a little to be had between 2,500 and 3,000 RPM but the car is never used down there so we didn't bother spending a lot of time on it.
Looks like we had a boo-boo and the atmospheric correction factors didn't get loaded on any of these dyno runs so this plot is 5-6lb-ft low across the band. Hope to get an updated run sometime next year.

I don't know if this was ever cleared up, but I was using 272/268 cams at the time of dyno. I posted more info. in this thread.

Amazing how some 2,5L are giving 160whp while 2,8 are 180-190.

2,5L guys needs to check for engine condition (leaks ? plugs ? vanos ? )

Statistically, m54 should put more whp than m52 and 2,5 vs 2,8 = small difference. Im from europe and guys here are pulling 160whp without mods on 2,5 and 155-160 on 2,8 without mods.

My friend have custom intake, ebay headers and custom exhaust and dynoed 220crank BUT 155whp. I can find dyno sheet if u want guys.

150 whp is reasonable for a M54B25. Where are you pulling the 220 bhp number from? That's like a 30% drivetrain loss. It should be more like 189 bhp with the standard 18% loss.

220 on 328 with headers, KN intake and custom exhaust.

Here is dyno sheet. 219 crank but 156whp . 156whp should be on stock 325 at least (here in EU). And some guys here are getting 180whp+ on 328. How ??

Can you post up the dyno graph ? Also what dyno was it, & what correction factor ?

Thanks.

DynoDynamics, correction factor about 28%.....
I know this because I did another dyno pass using DynoJet (after the DynoDynamics), my numbers was 235 whp.....
between DynoJet and DynoDynamics are about 13% of correction factor, so if you use DynoJet you "only" have about 15% of correction factor and if you use DynoDynics you have about 28% correction factor...

regards

At the wheels

Dyno dynamics dyno

330ci with ess ts2+, technic stage 3 head, factory decatted headers, factory sport exhaust, few other bits and pieces here and there.

Dyno was with bad vanos seals and secondary cats in place ( both now resolved), will be doing full exhaust including headers, couple of small changes, then back on the dyno

Very nice Davew,

The first two graphs through me off a bit, until I realized they were "crank" figures. For me, the third graph is the one I scrutinized, 310.6 WHP on a DynoDynamics Dyno is excellent !

If you were on a Dynojet dyno (the U.S. standard) your WHP would be about 350 WHP.

Congrats & enjoy.

Thanks Rob43

Sorry for the confusion with the 3 sheets, i thought as there are only a few dyno dynamics figures listed, I would put all I had up for comparison. I really struggled finding a comparison after getting these myself, and thought they may be useful for others that can't access a dyno jet

Dave

What exactly is "dyno"? I'm here to learn just like most of the other people so I'm hoping you don't bash me too hard.

Not to worry; you get a free pass with only ten posts to your name!

Dyno is dynamometer. A machine to measure the horsepower of an engine.
These guys tune their engine for more power and then use the dyno to measure how successful they've been.
